Barack Obama Congratulates Prince Harry and Meghan Markle on Engagement
The world was buzzing with excitement on Monday after the announcement of Prince Harry's engagement to actress Meghan Markle.
While many people awaited the reaction of current U.S. President Donald Trump, it was former President Barack Obama who took to social media to congratulate the happy couple.
Obama tweeted a message of congratulations to the couple, wishing them a lifetime of joy and happiness together.
The former President and First Lady Michelle Obama have had a close relationship with Prince Harry over the years, with the prince attending several of their events.
The Obamas were last seen with Prince Harry at the Obama Foundation Summit in Chicago last month.
In September, the former first family sat alongside Prince Harry at the Invictus Games in Toronto, which Meghan also attended.

It is unclear whether the Obamas will be invited to the couple's exclusive spring 2018 wedding, as planning is still underway.
Meanwhile, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle gave their first joint interview since announcing their engagement.
The couple revealed that they first met on a blind date set up by a mutual friend and have been seeing each other every two weeks ever since.
Prince Harry spoke about how he fell in love with Meghan so quickly, saying “all the stars were aligned, everything was just perfect, it was this beautiful woman just sort of literally tripped and fell into my life, I fell into her life.”
During the interview, Meghan also revealed that she had already met the Queen a couple of times and described her as an incredible woman.
Prince Harry had sought the permission of both of Meghan's parents before proposing, but had not yet met her father Thomas in person.
The proposal itself was a sweet and intimate moment between the couple.
It happened during a cozy night in at Nottingham Cottage at Kensington Palace, while they were cooking a roast dinner.
Meghan immediately said yes when Prince Harry proposed on one knee, describing it as “so sweet and natural and very romantic.”
The couple also reminisced about their trip to Botswana, which happened just four weeks after they met.
Prince Harry persuaded Meghan to join him on a five-day break in the African country, where they camped out under the stars.
Meghan described the experience as “absolutely fantastic.”
As the world eagerly awaits the upcoming royal wedding, it is clear that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are deeply in love and excited for their future together.
And with the warm congratulations from Barack Obama, it seems that they have the support of many around the world as well.
