Buckingham Palace Mulls Removal of Andrew and Harry’s Significant Roles
Officials at Buckingham Palace are reportedly considering ways to remove another significant role from Prince Andrew and Prince Harry, while also denying them Jubilee medals like other veterans.
According to palace sources, Andrew and Harry are set to lose their status as councillors of state, in addition to the various other titles they have had to forego.
The pair has already been stripped of their royal patronages and military titles amid the former's ongoing legal woes and the latter's decision to quit the firm.
Sources confirm that Andrew and Harry, along with Charles and William, are still two of the four councillors of state, who would be called upon to take the place of the Queen if she were unable to carry out her duties due to illness or absence abroad.
However, such status may not remain for much longer.
A royal source said, “It is a genuine problem that the Palace is looking to address.

Can you imagine the Duke of York having to sign official documents, for example, because the Prince of Wales and the Duke of Cambridge were both abroad, and the Queen became ill?
It's not an exaggeration to say it could put the monarchy in jeopardy.”
The pair also won't be eligible for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee Medal, which marks the Queen's 70 years on the throne.
The medal is awarded to serving members of the armed forces, police, fire, emergency, and prison services, as well as royals who hold honorary positions in the military, the types that Andrew and Harry held until recently.
As such, the pair will be treated like all other veterans and won't receive the award themselves.
A Buckingham Palace spokesman declined to comment, but sources suggested that Andrew and Harry could not be stripped of their roles without the law being changed.
An Act of Parliament would be needed to remove Andrew and Harry, perhaps replacing them with Princess Anne and the Duchess of Cornwall.
There could be events later this year which make such a change necessary, says the source, who declined to elaborate further.
In a further blow, Harry has been slammed by a former top royal protection officer over his threat to take the government to court.
Ex-Met Police Officer Di Davis also pointed out that Princess Anne only gets protection when she is carrying out official royal duties.
This is despite the fact that she was nearly kidnapped once and her protection officer was shot.
Mr Davis, the operational unit commander for the royals from 1995, said, “Princess Anne, for instance, his aunt, she doesn't get full-time protection we're told now and yet arguably in 1974 she was nearly kidnapped and or murdered.
Her protection officer was shot.
However, with regards to Harry, he can't pick and choose when he wants to come.
There has never been a precedent where somebody pays for their security in this country.
If it's required, it will be provided.”
In a scathing indictment of the Duke of Sussex, Mr Davis said that Harry chose to go to America, that's his prerogative.
However, he added that it is the UK's prerogative to ensure when we look at any aspect of protection.
He continued, “Any member of the royal family that we actually look and assess it through various security agencies.
That's the crux.
And it's been decided in this level, one they won't supply him with protection because the risk at this stage is deemed low.
However, should there be a risk when he comes then clearly the Metropolitan Police would be duty-bound.”
