Catherine, Princess of Wales, left in awe by young boy’s somersault at St David’s Day Parade

The St David's Day Parade was held in Coombermere Barracks in Windsor, where Catherine, the Princess of Wales, appeared in a scarlet coat from Alexander McQueen and a black fascinator.

She wore glamorous makeup with pink lipstick and dark smoky eye, completing her look with a replica of her late grandmother-in-law, the Queen's leek brooch.

The original Welsh Guards leek brooch was designed for Queen Elizabeth II in 1960, using the drawings of the Welsh Guardsmen.

It was presented to the late monarch as a regimental gift and was funded by the Guardsmen themselves, who each paid 12½ pence.

During the parade, Catherine had the opportunity to interact with some children, including a young boy who performed a backflip for her.

The Princess applauded the boy's performance and placed a supportive hand on his back as she led him back to his seat.

The St David's Day Parade is a traditional event in which the Welsh Guards celebrate their patron saint, St David.

Prince William, who recently became the Colonel of the Welsh Guard, presented leeks to the officers and guardsmen during the parade.

The Welsh Guards have been part of almost every British Army campaign since World War I and were established in 1915 by King George V. The event was particularly significant for Prince William, who succeeded King Charles in the role of Colonel of the Welsh Guard in December.

The royal couple also met with families from the regiment, as well as troops from the 5th Royal Australian Regiment who are in the UK to help train the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
