Duchess of Cambridge Defends Meghan Markle Amidst Mean Comments

The Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, has come to the defence of her future sister-in-law, Meghan Markle, after a barrage of unpleasant comments from Nanaki Priddy, a former school friend of Meghan's.

Priddy described the actress as calculated and cold, and even went on to say that the royal was an exaggerated version of herself.

However, Kate stepped in to defend Meghan, hoping to protect her from the negative aspects of royal life.

According to insiders, Kate understands what it's like to be in Meghan's shoes and wants to shelter her from all the critics that come with being a member of the royal family.

The source told Australian news site New Idea, “Kate's been there and done that and knows how hard those first few weeks of royal life can be.

Kate learned very early on that you have to have thick skin to handle all the critics that come out of the woodwork to have a swipe at you.”

Kate's decision to defend Meghan comes from a place of kindness and understanding.

The Duchess has vowed to take Meghan under her wing and protect her from any negativity that may come her way.

As the source added, “Harry is like a brother to Kate, and she's never seen him so happy.”

Ms Priddy's comments come after reports of a falling out between her and Meghan when the actress moved to Toronto to star in Suits and split up with her former husband Trevor Engelson in 2011.

Priddy shared a video from the summer of 1999 that shows a young Meghan talking about fearing she would fall out of her top while auditioning for a Shakira music video.

She commented, “I smile about the good times, we had some really great memories, but she has become a different person, she is unrecognisable to me, a manufactured, exaggerated version of herself.”

However, Kate's intervention shows that she is determined to support Meghan through all the ups and downs of royal life.

The source added, “Having such cruelty thrown at you when you're in the early days of your engagement can be devastating.

Kate suffered it when she was slammed for being ‘commoner Kate', and the fact that Meghan is an actress and divorced means there are plenty of people out there in line to throw eggs at her.”

Meghan and Prince Harry announced their engagement last month after months of speculation.

The couple will wed at St George's Chapel in Windsor Castle in May next year, and it has been suggested that Meghan has asked Kate to be her maid of honour.

Kate's actions show that she is a compassionate and supportive member of the royal family.

As the source said, “Kate, as a result, has vowed to take Meghan under her wing and shelter her through it all.”
