King Charles’ Coronation: The Exclusion of Lady Pamela Hicks and Charles Spencer

The much-anticipated coronation of King Charles is fast approaching, and it seems that not everyone will be receiving an invitation to the grand event.

Lady Pamela Hicks, one of the Queen's Bridesmaids and a relative of the Royal Family, will be watching the coronation from the comfort of her own home.

Unfortunately, Lady Pamela isn't the only one who won't be gracing the coronation with her presence.

Charles Spencer, King Charles' former brother-in-law, has also been left off the guest list.

India Hicks, Lady Pamela's daughter, took to Instagram to share the news with her followers.

In a witty and charming post, she revealed the details of the call she received from Buckingham Palace.

Trending:

Apparently, her daughter Domino keeps getting spam calls claiming to be from the palace, but it turned out that one of them was actually the real deal.

Lady Pamela's hearing isn't what it used to be, so India has become her human hearing aid, taking important calls on her behalf.

According to India, the message from King Charles' personal secretary explained that the coronation would be much smaller than II's, with only 1,000 guests instead of the previous 8,000.

This apparently is to alleviate the burden on the state.

The King himself sent his apologies and love, but Lady Pamela wasn't offended at all.

In fact, she called the new system very, very sensible, with invitations based on meritocracy rather than aristocracy.

Some may argue that the exclusion of Lady Pamela by Charles is a snub, but let's be real here.

1,000 guests is still a lot of people, and if the goal is to alleviate the burden on the state, then cutting down the guest list is a smart move.

Plus, a slimmed-down coronation does not mean a less grand one.

If anything, it's an opportunity to focus on what really matters, the pomp and circumstance that make a royal coronation such a spectacle.

The King will still be decked out in all his regalia, from the St. Edward's Crown to the Sovereign's Scepter, and he will still be anointed with holy oil in a ceremony dating back centuries.

And let's not forget the famous procession from Westminster Abbey to Buckingham Palace, where the King will wave to crowds of adoring subjects.

Lady Pamela certainly isn't bothered by the lack of invitation, and neither should we be.

Instead, let's focus on the fact that we're living in a time when we can watch a royal coronation from the comfort of our own homes.

We can sip tea and eat scones while King Charles is crowned, and we don't have to worry about wearing a fancy hat or trying to catch a glimpse of the Queen.

In the end, the coronation will be a beautiful and historic event, and those of us who aren't on the guest list can still be part of it.

We can watch as King Charles is crowned and think about how lucky we are to live in a world where such pageantry and tradition still exist.

Who knows, maybe next time there's a royal event, we'll get an invitation.

Until then, we'll just have to settle for watching from afar and cheering on the new King from our couches.
