King Charles Hosts First Annual Christmas Meal at Winter Castle

The King and Queen Consort of England, King Charles and his wife, treated dozens of their relatives to a sit-down turkey lunch at Winter Castle.

This event marked the first annual Christmas meal for the wider royal family since King Charles ascended to the throne, and it was also the largest reunion since the Queen's funeral in September.

The traditional gathering had not taken place since 2019 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Many members of the royal family attended the event, including the Queen Consort and Earl and Countess of Wessex, who were among the first to arrive.

However, notable absentees included Prince Harry, Meghan, and their children Archie and Lilibet, who remain in the US.

The turkey and trimmings lunch usually takes place annually at Buckingham Palace on the Wednesday before Christmas, just before the monarch leaves for Sandringham for the festive season.

However, this year, in a break from tradition, the event took place at Windsor Castle.

This tradition is one of the rare times when all of the monarch's extended family meet, and it's an opportunity for the King to celebrate with those who don't receive an invitation to spend Christmas in Norfolk with the senior members of the family.

Last week, several senior royals gathered for Catherine's Together at Christmas carol service, which took place at Westminster Abbey.

Body language expert Judy James said the royal family projected bonding and unity during the carol service, despite Harry and Meghan's latest attacks.

Miss James noted that the Princess of Wales' warm smile of pride as she watched her children exchange kisses with the monarch showed everything we need to know about family unity.

She said further clues came from extra add-on touches, including lingering smiles and eye contact.

According to an expert, Harry is the one cutting himself off from the royal family.

British journalist and investigative reporter Tom Bower weighed in on the Sussex's docuseries.

In the second part, Markle and Prince Harry spoke about his strained relationship with his family.

The Revenge, Meghan Harry and the War Between the Windsors author felt that Prince Harry was the one cutting himself off from his family.

Bower told Page Six, “I think that he's just cutting himself off from it all, you know, he's turning himself into an outcast, and I don't think anyone's going to be looking to see if he's welcome here.”

Bower also speculated that Prince Harry's home country would not welcome him anymore after he attacked the institution as well as his family.

“I can't imagine they'll be welcome.

I don't think Harry will ever be welcome back in England,” Bower added.

The royal expert weighed in on Prince Harry's effort to reconcile with his family.

However, he also didn't think that it would work given his wife's quest for fame and fortune.

“His attempt at reconciliation is an attempt to get them to modify what they say to Netflix and what the book has got, and the reason is simply that Meghan is determined on fame and fortune and doesn't care two hoots about the royal family,” Bower claimed.

British journalist and broadcaster Dickie Arbiter, who served as Queen Elizabeth II's press spokesman from 1988 to 2000, also didn't think that reconciliation was possible at this point, after Meghan Markle and Prince Harry reportedly rubbished the royal family.

“Look, reconciliation talks are all very well.

A lot of people are talking about reconciliation.

But look what's happened over the two years,” Arbiter said.

“Harry and Meghan have rubbished the family, they've rubbished the United Kingdom.”
