Lady Louis Misses Out on New Title as Fans Outrage at Sexist Rules

Lady Louis, the daughter of Prince Edward and Sophie Countess of Wessex, has been left without a new title following her father's recent promotion to the Duke of Edinburgh.

The 19-year-old Lady Louis remains a lady, which has outraged many world fans who are questioning why she has been left out.

According to Dr. Craig Prescott, an expert in UK constitutional law and politics at Bangor University, the current constitutional rules prevent Lady Louis from taking on another title due to her position in the line of succession.

While it is possible for the King to give her a title, this does not seem to be the direction that her parents want to go down.

Richard Fitzwilliams, a long-standing royal commentator, suggests that Lady Louis's unchanged title reflects the family's lack of plans for her to become a working member of the royal family, as there are likely to be fewer royals performing royal duties in the future.

Lady Louis is entitled to take on the title of Princess as she is a male-lined grandchild of a monarch.

However, her parents have decided not to give her the title.

When Edward and Sophie married in 1990, Buckingham Palace said the couple's children would not be given the style His or Her Royal Highness, but would have curtsy titles as sons or daughters of an earl.

Sophie has since spoken out on this, and said the couple were raising their children with the assumption they will have to work for a living.

Lady Louis turned 18 in November 2021 and did not decide to take on the Princess title.

She started her first year at St. Andrews University in September 2022, where she is studying English.

Lady Louis is currently 15th in line behind her brother who sits 14th position.

Although she is older than her brother, she sits further down the line of succession because of the old rules of the male progemitor.

The 2013 Succession to the Crown Act scrapped the centuries-old tradition of men taking precedence over women regardless of age.

However, the legislation only changed the line of succession for those born after October 28, 2011.

As Lady Louis was born in November 2003, her brother remains ahead of her.

It also means the King's sister, the Princess Royal, missed out on moving up the ranks.

She is currently 16th in the line to the throne, and despite being older than her brother, , 8th in line, and Prince Edward, 13th in line, royal fans have taken to social media to express their anger at Lady Louis' lack of a new title.

Many believe it's unfair their younger brother has received a more formal title and she's been left out.

Some have even implored Lady Louis to take up her birthright of Princess.

However, others feel that it is time for the royals to move out into the 21st century and disregard any old-fashioned protocols.

Lady Louis is seen as a private individual and is not often seen in public.

She has, however, accompanied her parents to various royal engagements and remains to be seen if she'll take on any form of royal duties in the future.

Prince Edward, the father of Lady Louis, is now the Duke of Edinburgh.

Duchess of Edinburgh and her younger brother James has become the Earl of Wessex.

Lady Louis's unchanged title has sparked outrage among many fans who believe the rules are sexist.

Lady Louis's situation has been speculated about, with many questioning why she has been left out of receiving a new title.

Some believe it's unfair that her younger brother has received a more formal title, while others feel that it's time for the royals to move out of old-fashioned protocols.

Lady Louis is currently studying English at St. Andrews University and remains a private individual.
