Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor: The New Addition to the Royal Family

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have welcomed their second child, a baby girl named Diana Mountbatten-Windsor.

Born on June 4th at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in California, she weighed 7 pounds 11 ounces.

The name is a nod to the Queen's childhood nickname, which she couldn't pronounce, and Diana is in honor of Harry's late mother.

However, not everyone is thrilled with the name choice.

U.S. journalist Kelly Hartog believes that Harry and Meghan are attempting a reconciliation with the royal family without actually doing any work to heal the rift.

In her column on NBC News, she wrote, “From where I sit, it looks like Harry and Meghan are using a Band-Aid to try to fix a gunshot wound, with Harry saying, ‘Hey Grandma, I know you're p****d off with me right now, so I thought I'd take your very private nickname and put it in the public domain by giving it to our newborn daughter.'”

Hartog suggests that if the couple truly wanted to repair the family rift, they should have done so in a private forum.

She believes that their eagerness to embrace the laid-back American attitude and their desire for public visibility have caused them to throw royal rules and traditions out the window.

Royal biographer Angela Levin also criticized the name choice, claiming that it was rude to the Queen.

Speaking on ITV's Good Morning Britain, she said, “I think she's desperately unhappy because they were desperately rude about her.

I don't think it's a good idea.

I think it's quite rude to Her Majesty the Queen.”

Levin believes that the Queen's late husband, Prince Philip, was the only one entitled to use the nickname, and that it was a special name that would never dream of using.

Despite the criticisms, Harry and Meghan have expressed their joy at the arrival of their daughter.

In a statement on their website, they said, “On June 4th, we were blessed with the arrival of our daughter, Lili.

She is more than we could have ever imagined, and we remain grateful for the love and prayers we've felt from across the globe.

Thank you for your continued kindness and support during this very special time for our family.”

Lilibet Diana is eighth in line to the throne, after her brother and her father Harry.

She is also the first royal baby to be born in the United States.

The couple moved to California last year after stepping back from their roles as senior members of the royal family.
