Megan Markle’s Podcast Cancelled by Spotify as 98% Won’t Listen

Megan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, released the first episode of her highly anticipated podcast, archetypes, on Tuesday, August 23.

The podcast was meant to investigate the labels that try to hold women back, with Megan promising to have intimate and candid conversations with friends, historians, and experts.

The first episode, titled “The Misconceptions of Ambition,” featured Serena Williams and Dr. Laura Kay as guests.

During the hour-long episode, Megan shared personal stories about her struggle with ambition and gave insight into her life as a new mother.

Despite the hype surrounding the podcast, a poll conducted by Express.co.uk showed that an overwhelming majority of readers, 98%, would not be listening to Megan's podcast series.

The poll ran from Wednesday, August 24 to Friday, August 26, with 15,493 people responding.

Just 2% said they would listen, while 56 people said they did not know.

Hundreds of comments were left below the article, with most readers commenting that they had better things to do than listen to Megan's podcast.

Some readers even canceled their Spotify subscriptions as a result of Megan's podcast.

One reader commented that they were “not wasting [their] time” and had closed their account.

Another reader said they were “not renewing [their] Spotify subscription.”

and Megan Markle signed a multi-year podcast partnership with Spotify after stepping down from their roles as senior working royals in 2020.

Archetypes was their first product from the deal, aside from a holiday special released last Christmas.

Since stepping away from the firm, Harry and Megan have more freedom to speak about their own views and beliefs.

Royal author Ahmed Scobie praised Megan's podcast, claiming that the Duchess finally has her voice back after being silenced by the institution.

Writing in his column for Yahoo News, Mr. Scobie said, “uncensored and unbothered.

Megan, like Harry, has managed to create a healthier and happier existence since being shown the door after the couple's half in, half out proposal was rejected.

Once silenced by the institution, Megan finally has her voice back.”
