Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s Montecito residence is like Fort Knox, according to a local resident.

The Sussexes are reportedly considering a change of scenery, and Lynn, a florist who has been in the area for decades, recounted the military-like atmosphere she encountered while delivering flowers to the address.

Speaking next to a floristry shop with employee Marcello Ross, Lynn said that the delivery was for a Miss M, and upon arrival, she was instructed to drive to the next gate while being monitored on camera the whole time.

Mr Ross quipped that it was like Fort Knox up there.

Lynn described being unable to catch a glimpse of the Sussexes' home from the front gates and being confronted by more security.

She commented that the security personnel looked like they'd just come from the military, had buzz cuts, and could have been armed.

She added that she had no idea who the flowers were for and that all the security was unnecessary.

Lynn stated that she got the flowers out, and the guys took them and buzzed off.

She couldn't imagine living like that.

Montecito is a parallel universe where the Sussexes' mansion is entry-level wealth.

Their lifestyle could feasibly blow the roof off as Forbes has estimated that their security bill could reach between two and three million dollars each year for personal protection personnel working around the clock.

There might also be drones, dogs, teams to check locations before they visit, people monitoring social media for threats, and arranging decoys to throw photographers off the trail.

One security expert told Forbes that the couple made a rookie mistake in buying their Montecito home in their own name because it made their address publicly available.

He could find it in 10 minutes online, and some people have, which could be another factor behind the rumored move.

Local police have received six calls about security breaches in only 14 months, including two in less than a fortnight and a trespasser on the couple's wedding anniversary in May.

Concerned by a series of sophisticated burglaries in the area, Santa Barbara police have installed number plate recognition cameras on many roads.

Bahari and Megan are reportedly on the hunt for a new home just down the road in Hope Ranch.

For the privacy-obsessed couple, the key word here is private.

It isn't an entirely gated community, but only three of the roads are public, and it has its security patrol, reducing the Sussexes' reliance on outsiders.

It is, say insiders, a palm-lined peaceful oasis that is a world all of its own.

Hope Ranch has a private golf club, private tennis courts, private beach complete with summer staff, beach boys, and a food stand.

There are also 22 miles of riding trails, which are almost certainly private too.

Montecito is home to other famous personalities, including , who bought three neighboring estates to form a vast one worth a hundred million dollars, and Gwyneth Paltrow, who recently finished building her dream home.
