Meghan Markle Channels Michelle Obama’s Inauguration Look During Visit to Harlem School

The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, stepped out in a monochromatic maroon suit during her visit to Harlem's PS 123 Mahalia Jackson School on Friday.

The outfit, which included a $5,840 Loro Piano cashmere coat, matching $1,685 wide-leg pants, and red Manolo Blahnik-pointed toe pumps, bore a striking resemblance to the much-lauded ensemble worn by former First Lady Michelle Obama at President Joe Biden's inauguration.

Markle accessorized the look with matching pumps and gold jewelry, including a $4,500 diamond ring by Birks, Princess Diana's $23,000 Cartier Tank watch, a $6,900 Cartier Love bracelet, a $3,000 Jennifer Meyer tennis bracelet, and her diamond engagement ring, which is estimated to be worth about $350,000.

However, the designer outfit and estimated $387,000 worth of jewels raised eyebrows given that 94% of children at the school they were visiting receive free meals.

Twitter users were quick to notice the similarity between Markle's outfit and Obama's inauguration day look, with one person joking that the royal was cosplaying Michelle Obama.

“‘This giving me Michelle Obama inauguration look,' one person wrote, adding, “‘Very messy but the outfit looks similar to Michelle Obama's inauguration 2021 look.'”

Markle completed the look with a black face mask that looked just like the one Obama paired with her suit eight months ago.

She also seemed to take inspiration from Obama's inauguration day hairstyle, wearing her hair in loose curls parted in the middle.

However, recent reports suggest that the relationship between Markle and Obama has soured.

According to Life and Style, Obama has dumped Markle as a friend after recent scandals.

While Obama once called Markle an inspiration, an inside source now reveals that Obama feels like Markle can't be trusted and has been name-dropping the Obamas in an effort to further her career.

The insider admits that it all comes down to the Sussexes' exit from their royal duties, which Obama did not approve of.

The tabloid insists that Obama has stepped back from their friendship entirely, as evidenced by her failure to send congratulations when Markle welcomed her daughter this spring and her exclusion of Markle and Harry from Barack Obama's 60th birthday party.

While the reports may suggest a rift between the two women, Markle's homage to Obama's inauguration look suggests that she still admires the former First Lady's style.
