Meghan Markle Claims Engagement Interview with BBC Was an Orchestrated Reality Show
In a recent episode of a streaming service, Meghan Markle revealed that the interview she conducted with her husband, Prince Harry, to mark their engagement with BBC was an orchestrated reality show.
The Duchess of Sussex claimed that the interview was rehearsed and that they did the thing out with the press before going inside to take off their coats and sit down for the interview.
However, BBC journalist Michelle Hussain has disputed Meghan's characterization of the interview, saying that she was asked to do the interview and did it.
Johnny Diamond, host of Radio 4's Today program, spoke to Miss Hussain about her interview in 2017.
In light of Meghan's remarks, he said, “They also say the interview they did with Michelle was an orchestrated reality show.
Bit of a blow.

I don't know who orchestrated it.
Maybe it was Michelle's evil plan, it seems at the time.”
Diamond added that he thought the interview was charming and that Michelle was lobbing questions at the couple.
Despite Meghan's claims, Ms. Hussain said that her recollection of the interview was different.
She explained that the day was full of joy and that the major focus of everyone who was there from the BBC team was to make sure Harry and Meghan were at the heart of it and felt comfortable as possible because this was their day.
She explained that she was asked to do the interview the night before, which was then recorded the following afternoon.
“We went to Kensington Palace, the whole thing was recorded in a very discreet and small scale way, and on the editorial side there were only two of us,” Ms. Hussain said.
“We had a discussion with Harry and Meghan and two of their team beforehand and we talked about what we would do with the cover, what they were comfortable sharing.
This was an interview that was introducing themselves to the world and they were very much in love, very much in tune with each other.”
During the interview, Meghan also talked about the suffocation she felt from the moment her relationship with Harry was made public.
She said that suddenly, her life was not her own.
This is something Prince Harry has lived with all his life.
Fellow journalist Justin Webb added, “There is this kind of sense you get from Meghan Markle of the suffocation that she felt when she joined the family.”
In replying, Ms. Hussain referenced a famous phrase used by Buckingham Palace in response to explosive racism allegations leveled by Meghan in her 2020 chat with Oprah Winfrey.
“We know recollections may vary on this particular subject, but my recollection is definitely very much asked to do an interview and do said interview,” Hussain said.
After her morning radio show, Ms. Hussain spoke to the BBC on record to explain how she has a completely different recollection of their 2017 interview.
She could be heard chuckling, and Justin Webb, her co-presenter, joked that she was the orchestrator.
In conclusion, Meghan Markle's claims that her engagement interview with BBC was an orchestrated reality show have been disputed by the journalist who conducted the interview, Michelle Hussain.
