Meghan Markle Criticized for Using Prince Harry’s Titles During Invictus Games Introduction

Royal fans have criticized for using 's titles during her introduction of him at the opening ceremony of the Invictus Games in The Hague, Netherlands.

While introducing Harry, Markle said, “It is my distinguished honor to introduce someone that I think you all will be very excited to hear from.

Please welcome my incredible husband, , the Duke of Sussex.”

This comes after Harry previously asked to drop his titles and be called just Harry at an event in Scotland back in 2020.

Fans have long speculated that despite stepping away from all royal responsibilities, Meghan still has a tendency to use them when it benefits them publicly.

Twitter users expressed their disappointment with Markle's introduction, with one user writing, “Thought it was just Harry.

Trending:

Prince Harry will suffice.

She's obsessed with those damn titles.”

Another user added, “They found out that just call me Harry does not sell but my husband, Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex and hi, I'm Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex does.

Shows that they're without titles, their worth decreases and they and their corporate bosses know it.”

However, some defended Markle's use of Harry's titles, with one user suggesting that she may call him by his titles at home.

During her speech at the Invictus Games, Markle also praised wounded servicemen and women for their years of active duty on the field.

She concluded her speech by saying, “This is service.

This is dedication.

And this is the Invictus family.”

Some experts suggest that Markle's use of the word “service” may have been a veiled dig at the Royal Family, as it comes after the Queen's statement in 2020 confirming Harry and Meghan's intention to step back as senior Royal Family members.

In the statement, the Queen said the Sussexes were leaving behind responsibilities and duties that come with a life of public service.

Ingrid Seward, editor-in-chief of Majesty magazine, called Markle's use of the word “service” an interesting choice, saying, “It's evocative language and perhaps is slightly barbed.

There's definitely a little innuendo there.”

This isn't the first time Harry and Meghan have been accused of using their royal privileges for publicity.

Royal biographer Tom Bower recently slammed the couple for allegedly staging a reunion with II for their Netflix documentary.

He explained, “The Queen's advisers failed to protect her from being exploited by the Royal Family's worst traducers, while the Sussexes exploited an old, unwell woman to boost their credibility and coffers.”

Despite the criticism, Harry and Meghan continue to pursue their charitable causes and live a life of service.

In their own statement, they admonished, “We can all live a life of service.
