Meghan Markle Disappointed as Golden Globe Nomination List Announced Without Her Documentary
Meghan Markle, also known as the Duchess of Sussex, was left fuming after the 80th Golden Globe nominations were announced without her Netflix documentary.
The exclusion has left Meghan feeling estranged and excluded from Hollywood, according to sources close to her.
The Netflix documentary, titled “Megan and Harry,” is directed by two-time Academy Award nominated and Emmy Award winning director Liz Garbus.
Meghan had reportedly instructed Garbus to submit the documentary to every single award show, including the Golden Globes, Emmys, and Oscars.
However, the nominees for the 80th annual Golden Globe Awards were announced without a mention of the documentary.
The nominations were announced by Mayan Lopez and Salinas Levia of the NBC comedy series “Lopez vs. Lopez” and Helena Honay, president of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA).

The nominees for each of the 27 award categories were voted on by 96 members and, for the first time, 103 international voters.
The new voters were recruited by international industry organizations, well-known foreign film festivals, and journalism professionals.
This diverse voting group represents 62 different countries around the world.
The 80th Golden Globe Awards will take place on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, at 8pm Eastern Time, 5pm Pacific Time, and will be held at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California.
Unfortunately, Meghan and Harry's names were not among the nominees.
Liz Garbus, the documentary's director, is an American documentary film director and producer.
She has made several notable documentaries, including “The Farm,” “Eggnola USA,” “Ghost of Abu Ghraib,” “Bobby Fischer Against the World,” “Love, Maryland,” “What Happened, Miss Simone,” and “Becoming, Kosia.”
It is unfortunate that Garbus's talent has been overshadowed by her association with Meghan and Harry.
Had she cooperated with someone else, things might have been different.
This is also why the couple's first director refused to work with them.
Despite the disappointment of not being nominated for the Golden Globe Awards, the documentary has still been a huge success.
It has become Netflix's biggest documentary debut, racking up 81.55 million viewing hours globally within its first four days of release.
The streaming giant said in a press release that the documentary had the highest view hours of any documentary series in a premiere week.
The first three episodes were released on December 8th, with the final three installments on December 15th.
The series appeared in the streamer's top 10 TV list in 85 countries and ranked number one in the UK.
While the numbers may be impressive, they cannot compare to the legitimacy of votes.
This is reflected in the nomination results for the Golden Globe Awards in 2023.
It is worth noting that the award ceremony coincides with the release of Harry's memoir, “Spare.”
In conclusion, while Meghan Markle may be disappointed by the Golden Globe nominations, it is clear that her Netflix documentary has been a huge success.
Despite the lack of recognition from the Golden Globe Awards, the documentary has still managed to captivate audiences worldwide.
