Meghan Markle Ditches Name Tag at Royal Ascot

The Duchess of Sussex, , made her debut at the royal ascot on Tuesday and turned heads with her fashion choices.

However, it wasn't just her outfit that caught the attention of eagle-eyed fans.

Unlike other royals in attendance, Meghan chose not to wear a name tag.

While it is customary for members of the royal family to wear name badges at the prestigious equestrian event, Meghan's dress was made from silk or another light material that could have been spoiled by attaching the name tag.

It is thought that the fabric could pucker or leave noticeable marks, which would be undesirable for a royal outfit.

This is in contrast to the Duchess of Cambridge, who has previously worn cotton or lace dresses to the event, which are less likely to be spoiled by the badge.

However, Kate always wears her name tag, as it is required for all members of the royal family except the Queen.

Meghan isn't the only royal who has chosen not to wear her name tag, as the Duchess of Cornwall has also previously omitted wearing the name tag.

However, it is still a rare occurrence and has caused some surprise among royal fans.

The royal ascot is a significant event in the British social calendar, and Meghan attended with her husband, , to celebrate their one-month anniversary.

The couple joined the Queen, Princess Anne, and several other members of the royal family at the horse-racing event.

Notably absent from the event were and Kate, who were attending a royal engagement in Liverpool.

They are expected to attend the event on Wednesday, along with the Duchess of Cambridge, who always wears her name tag.

The bond between the Queen and her new granddaughter-in-law has been on full display lately.

For their first solo outing just five days ago, the twosome stepped off the royal train together in Cheshire after sharing an overnight ride from London.
