Meghan Markle Faces Defamation Lawsuit from Half-Sister Samantha
Meghan Markle has been hit with a defamation lawsuit by her half-sister, Samantha Markle, following the Duchess of Sussex's tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey.
Samantha is seeking £57,000 in damages over comments made by Meghan during the interview, where she claimed to have grown up as an only child.
In response to the lawsuit, Meghan's legal team has argued that her comments were subjective and not factual, and therefore cannot be considered defamatory.
They also noted that Samantha's claim that she can disprove Meghan's childhood claims is inherently unfalsifiable.
Furthermore, Meghan's legal team has argued that she cannot be held liable for anything related to the unofficial royal biography, Finding Freedom, as she did not write it.
However, Samantha is pushing the narrative that Meghan may have spoken with the authors off-record and could therefore be held liable.

The lawsuit comes amidst ongoing tensions between Meghan and her half-sister, with Samantha claiming that the comments made by Meghan have subjected her to humiliation, shame, and hatred on a worldwide scale.
Meanwhile, author Tom Bower has shed light on the monumental argument that led to Megxit in his book.
According to Bower, palace officials decided to publicly humiliate Harry and Meghan by revising their decision to have the couple join the family's procession through Westminster Abbey for the annual Commonwealth Day service.
Instead, they were told to sit and wait with the congregation, which appalled them.
The annual Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey in 2020 was a significant event for Harry and Meghan, as it showed them their place and future in the royal family.
The couple has since stepped down from royal duties and moved to California.
Despite the ongoing legal battle, Meghan has denied lying about her childhood during the Oprah interview.
Her legal team has emphasized that her comments were clearly subjective and not meant to be taken as objective fact.
As the lawsuit continues, it remains to be seen how this will impact Meghan's reputation and future endeavors.
