Meghan Markle Insists on Keeping Her Name Despite Royal Status

may have become a royal after marrying , but there is one thing that she is determined to keep the same – her name.

According to her makeup artist and friend, Daniel Martin, who created her natural and understated look for her wedding day, Meghan has insisted on being called by her nickname, Meg.

Martin, who has been friends with the Duchess for almost a decade, said that he asked her how he should refer to her now that she is a royal.

He was concerned about showing respect, but Meghan simply laughed and replied, “I'm always going to be Meg.”

Daniel Martin is a well-known makeup artist based in New York City, whose A-list clients include Jessica Alba and Elizabeth Moss.

On the day of the royal wedding, he was one of four people who assisted Meghan as she prepared to walk down the aisle, along with her mother, Doria Ragland, her dress designer, Claire Waite Keller, and her hair stylist, Serge Normand.

Martin revealed that Meghan played 1950s chilled music on Spotify while getting ready, and her mother was in good spirits.

Despite the significance of the occasion, Martin said that Meghan was relaxed and true to herself in the moments leading up to the ceremony.

He described her as “regular Meghan” and said that if they hadn't put so much expectation on the event, it wouldn't have made her nervous.

Her wedding day makeup was a simple, minimalist look with a light smoky eye and a pale pink lip.

The bride let her natural freckles show and had a healthy, glowing complexion.

Her defined eyebrows gave structure to her face, while her peachy lips gave a fresh touch to the overall look.

Martin was impressed by Meghan's Givenchy gown, which he described as “so beautiful and so architectural.” The final sentence that he and Meghan exchanged before the ceremony was, “We'll see you on the other side.” After the ceremony, Martin saw Meghan again for touch-ups before she posed with Harry for their official wedding photos.

He admitted that he started crying when he saw her, and said that it was the first time he had been able to be there in person.

Martin was also among the first to know about Harry and Meghan's engagement.

He revealed that Meghan had texted him asking what he was doing on the weekend of May 19th.

When he replied that he might be in Cannes for the film festival, she sent him the bride and groom emoji, causing him to drop his phone in shock.

The makeup artist said that Meghan is extremely decisive and knows exactly what she wants when it comes to her makeup.

He described her as being very open and loving makeup, making it fun to play dress up with her.

The collaborative process that led to Meghan's wedding day makeup look was focused on modernity and ensuring that her dress remained the main attraction.

Martin said that the linear line through the boat neck created a framing of her face from her collar bone up, and that too much makeup would have been distracting.

He believes that makeup should be the finishing touch to the dress, and never the other way around, especially on your wedding day.

Meghan used lot papers and lipstick to refresh her look throughout the day.

Despite her new royal status, remains true to herself and insists on being called by her nickname, Meg.

Her makeup artist and friend, Daniel Martin, has described her as being relaxed and decisive, with a love of makeup that makes playing dress up with her fun.

Martin was proud to have been a part of her special day and said that seeing her in person was an emotional experience.

Meghan's wedding day look was a reflection of her natural beauty and modern style, with her dress remaining the main attraction.
