Meghan Markle: The Truth About Her Divorce from Trevor Engelson
The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, has been a subject of intense scrutiny since she joined the British royal family.
One of the most intriguing questions about her past is why she divorced her first husband, Trevor Engelson.
The couple had been together for seven years before tying the knot, but their marriage lasted only 23 months.
While some sources claim that Trevor was eaten up with envy provoked by Meghan's success, those close to him have a different recollection of events.
Engelson's uncle, Mickey Miles Felton, a lacrosse coach from Arizona, has said that his nephew is too good a person to have such thoughts.
He believes that the reasons for the divorce given in the book Finding Freedom, written with the apparent co-operation of the Duke and Duchess, are an attempt to sanitize the reputation of someone who did something wrong and needs to make themselves look good.

Mr. Felton added that Trevor was in a position to help Meghan when she was an unknown actress and would have done everything he could to further her career.
A browse through Engelson's Facebook page reveals that he was clearly proud of Meghan's career and breakthrough role in Suits.
He even noted the show's ratings and expressed delight for his badass fiancée.
So perhaps the jealousy began after the couple's wedding, at which they exchanged vows at sunset in the grounds of the luxurious Jamaica in Hinocho Rios.
But, again, look at the evidence offered by Engelson's social media page.
On January 23, 2013, he posted, “Watch Suits tonight, so proud of my amazing wife.”
Yet within a few weeks of this loving endorsement, the marriage was over.
After the divorce, Meghan moved to Toronto and joined members club Soho House, where she became firm friends with its global membership director, Marcus Anderson.
She and VTLO moved into a townhouse in a back street, where she lived under the name Meghan Engelson.
It was far more modest than the 11 million pound mansion she and Harry have just bought in Santa Barbara, California.
All the same, this new life was a far cry from the one she had enjoyed with Trevor.
When a callow 23-year-old actress not long out of theatre school met the ruggedly good-looking Engelson, who was five years her senior and making his mark as a film producer and agent, he was her Svengali, a smart, confident, shoot-from-the-lip New Yorker.
And she adored him.
As for Trevor, he boasted to his old East Coast friends that he had bagged the hottest chick in California.
Despite the divorce, Engelson has continued to make successes out of a lot of people who have worked for him.
His uncle believes that he has excellent self-esteem and knows who he is and where he's going, and he's not going to be intimidated by his wife's success.
Mr. Felton suggests that the claim of jealousy is rubbish and that Trevor is not the kind of person who would be jealous of somebody else's success.
In conclusion, the reasons for Meghan Markle's divorce from Trevor Engelson remain a mystery.
While some sources claim that jealousy was the cause, those close to Trevor have a different recollection of events.
What is clear is that Meghan has moved on and is now married to Prince Harry, with whom she has a son, Archie, and a daughter on the way.
Whatever happened in her past, she has embraced her new role as a member of the royal family, using her platform to advocate for causes she cares about and to make a difference in the world.
