Meghan Markle’s Excessive Use of Royal Title Invites Criticism

Political commentator Calvin Robinson has criticized and for continuing to use their royal titles despite being political.

Speaking to Sky News, Robinson said that the couple's decision to use their titles was “absolutely shocking.”

He added that the royal family should take away their titles if they continue to sell themselves to Hollywood industry giants like Netflix and Disney.

Robinson believes that 's plan to become the most famous princess in the world is pulling everyone down.

Moreover, Meghan Markle has been accused of overusing her royal title, Duchess of Sussex.

Royal expert Jonathan Sacerdotty agreed that Markle has been using her title constantly.

However, he thinks that the Duchess is not doing herself any favors by doing so.

Sacerdotty has cited several instances when Markle introduced herself as the Duchess of Sussex, such as when she produced a video aimed at infants and signed her letter addressed to politicians about family paid leave.

For Sacerdotty, Markle's excessive use of her royal title is inviting mockery more than anything else.

He believes that she seems keen to emphasize the separation between herself and commoners or those who are below her in society.

Several netizens are calling out the Queen to strip all the royal titles given to her.

They think that Markle should stop using the title because it doesn't serve its purpose and appears as a differentiation marker that provokes laughter rather than reverence or respect from her audience.

Another netizen on Twitter said that Markle had to choose between flaunting her meaningless title in America or speaking about the issue because every time she uses her royal title, it distracts the public from the actual issue she is campaigning for, so no one listens to her message.

The public ends up discussing her use of the royal title instead of the issue she wanted to talk about.

When Meghan and Harry stepped back from royal duties at the start of last year, the agreement with the Queen was that the couple would formally retain their titles but would no longer use their HRH titles.

However, exclusive polls in the Sunday Express revealed that the public believes the couple should stop using their royal titles to promote their business deals or political views.

In the UK, 73% of respondents said that the couple should stop using their titles for business or political purposes.

In the US, 59% agreed.

The public is divided when asked whether the couple should be able to keep their titles.

Almost half of UK respondents, 48%, believe that the couple should be stripped of their titles compared to a third, 33%, in the US.

It remains to be seen whether and Meghan Markle will take heed of the criticism and stop using their royal titles.
