Meghan Markle’s Feminist Principles Questioned by Ulrika Johnson

Ulrika Johnson, a well-known television personality, has criticized for abandoning her feminist principles to further her showbiz career.

The presenter's comments come after the Duchess said she was reduced to a bimbo on Deal or No Deal because she was valued for beauty and not brains.

Writing in her column for a paper, Ulrika, 55, argued that Meghan's ambition burnt a hole in her principles, and starting out in such a role isn't selling herself short.

Meghan appeared on the game show between 2006 and 2007 as a briefcase girl and quit because she was objectified, saying she wants her daughter to be valued first for her mind.

Ulrika questioned why the actress didn't object to how she was being represented at the time as it was not in line with her feminist views.

She accused Meghan of having ambition burning a hole in her principles and being quite willing to use that role as a stepping stone to bigger and better things.

Ulrika continued, explaining that in her first job as a weather girl, people thought of her as a blonde bimbo, but argued that such roles are created for women who wish to grab the opportunity.

She wished Meghan would stop talking as if it's a feminist issue, saying starting out in a role that isn't even testing your IQ means you're selling yourself short.

Furthermore, Claudia Jordan, Meghan's co-star on the show, refuted Morgan's version of events and said that was far from the truth.

She claimed the girls on the show were chosen for their outgoing personalities, and we know Meghan has plenty of that.

The girl doesn't stop talking even if people aren't interested.

Whatever Meghan wants to argue were the motivations of the show's producers, these were roles created for whichever women wanted to step up to the plate and grab the opportunity.

If Meghan is so smart, clever, wise, and savvy, why did she not object at the time to her own perception of what she would be representing and what she would be viewed as?

She didn't because she had ambition burning a hole in her principles, and she was quite willing to use that role as a stepping stone to bigger and better things.

She was quite willing to forgo any of the strongly held fundamentals she had at the time for the sake of furthering her career.

In addition, Whoopi Goldberg recently challenged 's comments that she felt objectified during her stint on the game show Deal or No Deal.

The View moderator argued during Wednesday's episode of the daytime show that the Duchess of Sussex's perspective may have been self-imposed.

The objectification might be coming from you, and you felt about how those women were being portrayed, Goldberg said, adding, We're performers.

When you're a performer, you take the gig, you take the gig.

Sometimes you're in a bozo suit.

Sometimes you've got a big nose.

And this is just the way it is.

We're not journalists.

We're actors.

We're trying to get to another place.

Meghan had discussed her time working as a briefcase girl on Howie Mandel's Deal or No Deal in 2006.

During Tuesday's episode of a podcast archetypes, she explained that she felt she was grateful to have a job as an auditioning actress.

She ended up quitting the show because it made her feel not smart.

Ulrika's criticism comes after Meghan's latest appearance on the Archetypes podcast with Paris Hilton, where she made some ridiculous statements.

Hearing Meghan harping on about how when she appeared on the US version of Deal or No Deal as a briefcase girl, it reduced her to being a bimbo and made her feel she was valued for her beauty and not her brains is all a bit appalling.

Meghan's feminist principles have been at the forefront of her public persona, making Ulrika's comments all the more poignant.

Meghan's ambition to make it in showbiz may have led her to compromise some of her values, but it remains to be seen whether this will have any lasting impact on her reputation as a feminist icon.
