Meghan Markle’s Nightmare: ITV Executive Sides with Piers Morgan Against Duchess
Days after Ofcom cleared Piers Morgan of breaking broadcasting rules over his controversial comments about the Duchess of Sussex, he was pictured with a senior executive of ITV, Kevin Ligo.
The meeting took place at a cricket match at the Oval in London, where they watched England v India from the same corporate box.
Mr Ligo is in charge of programming at the channel and is said to be a big fan of Mr Morgan.
The appearance of the two together has fueled rumors about the presenter's return to Good Morning Britain, from which he resigned after receiving 58,000 complaints over his comments about Meghan Markle.
One of those complaints is said to have come from the Duchess herself.
However, an ITV source has stated that there are no current plans to invite Mr Morgan back to the show.
Trending:
Dame Carolyn McCall, ITV's boss, was not present at the cricket match.
She has faced pressure this week to explain why she tried to suppress Mr Morgan's free speech after Meghan complained to her directly.
Despite this, Mr Morgan will continue to work with ITV on his Life Stories interview programs.
Piers Morgan has been one of Meghan Markle's harshest critics over the years.
In March, he walked off the set of Good Morning Britain after calling Meghan a liar and getting into a back-and-forth with weatherman Alex Beresford.
Following discussions with ITV, he decided to leave the show.
Ofcom launched an investigation into the incident, and on September 1, it revealed its findings, stating that the content was not in breach of its broadcasting rules.
Morgan responded to the news, calling it a resounding victory for free speech and a resounding defeat for Princess Pinocchio.
However, royal expert Angela Levin claims that Meghan Markle will fight very hard to counter the Ofcom result that ruled in Piers Morgan's favor.
She alleges that the Duchess will try every which way to refute the decision and win, claiming that her desire to win is scary.
The battle between Meghan and Piers has been ongoing for months, with the former Good Morning Britain presenter being one of her harshest critics.
The controversy surrounding his comments about the Duchess led to his resignation from the show, but Ofcom's ruling has cleared him of any wrongdoing.
Despite this, the appearance of Kevin Ligo with Piers Morgan at the cricket match has fueled speculation about the presenter's return to Good Morning Britain.
However, ITV has stated that there are no current plans to invite him back to the show.
The controversy surrounding Piers Morgan's comments about Meghan Markle highlights the ongoing debate about free speech and its limits.
While some argue that it is essential to protect this fundamental right, others believe that there should be limits to what can be said in public.
Whatever your views on the matter, it is clear that the battle between Piers Morgan and Meghan Markle is far from over.
With both sides determined to win, it remains to be seen who will come out on top in this ongoing saga.
