Meghan Markle’s PR Problems: Popularity Decline and Criticisms for Extravagant Lifestyle

According to a royal expert, Meghan could soon face an unexpected problem that might cost her some PR points.

Meghan's popularity has been declining this past year, according to research firm YouGov.

She has been receiving less favorability in both the United Kingdom and the United States.

In the UK, Meghan is the second least popular royal, just ahead of .

It's possible this dip in popularity is due to Sussexet and the events after that.

After stepping down as senior royals, Meghan and Harry moved to California to establish financial independence.

However, in early 2020, the couple also started speaking to news outlets to criticize the royal family.

Additionally, they have run into criticism for their extravagant lifestyle and using their titles to support political agendas.

During the first year of her marriage, Meghan spent anywhere from $300,000 to $500,000 on clothes alone.

In 2019, Harry and Meghan also came under fire for spending almost $3 million in taxpayers' money to renovate their Frogmore Cottage home.

Additionally, Harry and Meghan also got criticized for buying a $14.7 million, nine-bedroom home in California during a global pandemic when many people are struggling.

Some royal followers have accused the couple of trying to live a billionaire lifestyle even when they don't have anywhere close to that amount of money.

Furthermore, Meghan has been criticized for not being politically neutral, as most royals are expected to be.

Meghan's recent letter to Congress brought forth more of this criticism.

Journalist Zoe Strimpel also called Meghan insufferable for being involved in politics when she lacks experience.

The duchess, however, has become an insufferable meddler in politics, just without the amazing dresses and headpieces, Strimpel wrote.

One author who is writing a biography about Meghan is Tom Bauer.

In an interview, Bauer advised Meghan to make amends with some people in her life, such as her estranged father, Thomas Markle.

Similarly, she cut off her ex-husband when her career started taking off.

Bauer added that more could come out about Meghan's past if provoked.

In addition, Meghan's extravagant lifestyle and political involvement have led to criticism from many people.
