Prince and Princess of Wales Attend NBA Game During US Visit
The Prince and Princess of Wales have arrived in the United States for their first visit in eight years, and it seems that one particular sporting event from their 2014 tour of America has stayed with them.
Just a few hours after landing in Boston on Wednesday, the royal couple headed to an NBA game between the Boston Celtics and Miami Heat at TD Garden, which was in the schedule.
The two sat courtside with former Harvard basketball player and Massachusetts Garvelect Maura Headley, who also played professionally and visited with members of the Celtics family and the Boston Celtics Shamrock Foundation.
Initially, the plan was for the Prince and Princess to leave early, but they ended up staying for the whole game.
According to Hello!
magazine editor Emily Nash, who was also on the tour, “They were only due to stay for the first few quarters, and they ended up staying for the whole match.
William and Catherine, as we know, love sports.

They love a bit of competition.
They seem to be asking lots of questions, taking in all the action and getting to meet some of the players.
I think they had a great night.”
As William and Catherine sat courtside, fans cheered them on.
Later in the game, when they appeared on the fan cam screen, the crowd erupted in even louder applause.
This isn’t the first time the royals attended an NBA game, as they also saw the Cleveland Cavaliers take on the Brooklyn Nets at the Barclays Center in New York during their 2014 tour of America.
Catherine and William sat with the NBA star Dikumbi Mutumbu and later spoke with LeBron James after the game.
The two were presented with a Cambridge jersey by James and a smaller jersey that said George for their first son.
Prior to the game, the Prince and Princess headed to Boston City Hall to kick off the countdown to the Earthshot Prize Awards ceremony on Friday.
The crowd cheered when the couple emerged, with Will in a navy suit and Catherine in a Burberry dress, Alexander McQueen coat, and earrings by Shilah London, a sustainable jewelry designer.
Fans looking to catch a glimpse of the royal couple waited for hours in a steady rain, and William delivered a speech after Boston Mayor Michelle Wu and Reverend Mariamma Whitehammond, Boston’s Chief of Environment, Energy, and Open Space, also spoke.
“Thank you to Mayor Wu and thank you to all the hardy Bostonians braving the rain,” William said in his opening remarks.
