Princess Anne Visits Coronation Street Set for Acid Attack Storyline

Princess Anne, the patron of Acid Survivors Trust International, visited the set of Coronation Street in Greater Manchester to discuss the soap’s upcoming acid attack storyline.

The royal was given a tour of the filming locations and was shown scenes that will air next week.

She also spoke with producers and cast members, including Andrew Still, who plays the attacker, Justin.

The charity has been advising the show’s writers on the sensitive topic of acid attacks, which have been on the rise in the UK in recent years.

During her visit, Princess Anne met with Charlotte, an actress on the show, and discussed her experience of filming the storyline.

She also spoke with Ryan Prescott, Rob Mallard, and Sally Ann Matthews, among other cast members.

Lane MacLeod, the series producer, and John Whiston, head of ITV in the North, gave the royal a guided tour of the set, which included a visit to the Rovers Return Inn.

To learn more about how the show was handling the topic, acid attack survivor Samir Hussain and other officials were also in attendance.

Pictures from the tour showed Princess Anne beaming as she admired the exterior of the set buildings.

Commenting on the royal’s visit, Ian MacLeod, the show’s producer, said, “The visit gave both cast and colleagues the chance to discuss how they’ve worked together to create and portray such a delicate and important storyline, an opportunity none of us will forget.”

The royal couple’s engagements had to be changed due to the aftermath of the cyclone that devastated the country.

Princess Anne is colonel-in-chief of the Army Royals New Zealand Corps of Signals, and the visit was requested to mark its 100th anniversary celebrations at Linton Camp.

However, the event was called off due to the weather, and military personnel helped in the recovery efforts surrounding the cyclone.

Following their arrival in Wellington on Tuesday evening, the couple visited the National Crisis Management Centre on Wednesday to meet with crisis response staff dealing with the impacts of the cyclone.

They were shown around the centre by the country’s new Prime Minister, Chris Hipkins.

After the visit, Princess Anne released a statement expressing her admiration for the courage and resilience of the people of New Zealand during this difficult time.

She added, “My thoughts are with all New Zealanders whose homes or livelihoods have been affected by Cyclone Gabriel.

I’ve been given the opportunity to visit the National Disaster and Crisis Headquarters today, and I’m impressed by the major efforts being undertaken by first responders, local and national agencies to ensure the best possible support for everyone, especially those still at risk.

Overall, Princess Anne’s visit to the Coronation Street set was a positive step in raising awareness of the issue of acid attacks and the importance of handling such sensitive topics with care.

Her visit to the National Crisis Management Centre also highlighted the importance of supporting communities in times of crisis.
