Queen Cancels Virtual Engagements Due to Mild Covid Symptoms

Buckingham Palace has confirmed that the Queen has been forced to cancel planned virtual engagements today due to mild cold-like symptoms caused by Covid-19.

On Sunday, the Palace announced that the 95-year-old monarch had tested positive for Covid-19, but thankfully, she is only experiencing mild cold-like symptoms.

The Queen has been jabbed and boosted with the Covid-19 vaccine and is currently isolating at Windsor Castle, where she is expected to carry out light duties over the coming week.

However, this morning, a Buckingham Palace spokesman stated that as Her Majesty is still experiencing mild cold-like symptoms, she has decided not to undertake her planned virtual engagements today but will continue with light duties.

The Palace has said that her light duties will continue, but future engagements could be in doubt over the coming weeks as they said a decision on these would take place nearer the time.

Despite this, a telephone call with Prime Minister Boris Johnson tomorrow is scheduled in her diary as it stands.

Furthermore, the Queen has been keeping up with the red boxes of official documents that follow her everywhere.

Yesterday afternoon, she signed a message of condolences to the President of Brazil, where flash floods and landslides caused extensive damage, with more than 120 people still missing.

In the message, the monarch expressed deep sadness and wrote that her thoughts and prayers are with all those who have lost their lives, loved ones, and homes, as well as the emergency services and all those working to support the recovery efforts.

The message was signed, Elizabeth R.

Hours after announcing her positive test for Covid on Sunday, Her Majesty also issued a message of congratulations to the Team GB women’s and men’s curling squads following their medal successes at the Beijing Winter Olympics.

She was also well enough to cheer on one of her horses, King Kadyne, as it raced to victory at Newbury.

The Queen is believed to have watched the race on TV at Windsor Castle.

Concerns for the nation’s longest reigning sovereign are at peak levels given her age, her Covid diagnosis, and recent health scare.

The 95-year-old monarch quipped last week at an audience with two members of the military that she could not move very well.

She celebrated her platinum jubilee of 70 years on the throne on February 6.
