Rebel Wilson’s Awkward Joke About Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Oprah Interview at BAFTAs

The 2022 BAFTA Awards ceremony was hosted by comedian Rebel Wilson on BBC One.

Known for her dry sense of humor, Wilson made a joke about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's infamous interview with Oprah Winfrey before introducing the nominations for the film category this year.

She quipped, “From drama, to horror, to fantasy.

Harry and Meghan's interview with Oprah had it all.”

However, her joke was met with some awkward laughs and cringing looks from the audience.

Wilson went on to joke about how unfortunately, the interview did not fall into such a category.

This wasn't the first time Wilson poked fun at the Royal Family during the ceremony.

She also mocked Prince Andrew during one of her speeches, saying, “I was going to do a musical number as host, it was about Prince Andrew.

It was on roller skates, it was called Pizza Express but don't worry, I'm not going to do it, I'm not going to sing.

I'm saving my voice for the sequel to Cats.”

BAFTA viewers had mixed opinions on Rebel's presenting of the 2022 awards ceremony and they took to Twitter to share their thoughts.

While some viewers found her jokes amusing, others found them inappropriate and uncomfortable.

Prince William, who was unable to attend the Royal Albert Hall in person, issued a pre-recorded message to viewers later on in the ceremony.

Meanwhile, Kristen Stewart, who plays Harry's mother, the late Princess Diana, in Spencer, had no clue that the Sussexes were living in Montecito these days.

Stewart has said that she did a lot of research on the Princess of Wales for the Spencer role but she must not have done any on her son, Harry, because she thought he and Meghan still lived across the pond in Kensington Palace.

The Twilight actor found out Harry and his bride moved to California during an interview for Vanity Fair's Hollywood 2022 issue published in February.

Moreover, Stewart revealed that she caught a little bit of Meghan and Harry's CBS special with Oprah Winfrey which was filmed in Southern California.

While Stewart managed to catch bits and pieces of Harry and Meghan's sit down with Oprah Winfrey, she explained that she couldn't watch it from start to finish.

She elaborated that she didn't see the whole thing because of her role as Harry's mum.

It was almost too hot to touch in terms of how personal it was for me at that time, Stewart stated.

There have been reports that the Royal California residents are invited to this year's Academy Awards ceremony.

However, Harry reportedly isn't keen on attending because Stewart is nominated in the Best Actress category for her role as Diana in Spencer and the Prince doesn't approve of the movie or her performance.

Meghan, on the other hand, wants to go.

Spencer struck a sour note with Harry.

He's pretty appalled by the film, a source told his nerves are still raw.

He's actually thinking about skipping the Oscars, but Meghan really wants back into the Hollywood scene.

Overall, Wilson's jokes about the Royal Family at the BAFTAs have caused mixed reactions among viewers.

While some found them amusing, others found them inappropriate and uncomfortable.

Meanwhile, Kristen Stewart's lack of knowledge about Harry and Meghan's move to California has surprised many fans.
