Rebel Wilson’s Cheeky Joke About Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Ahead of BAFTA Hosting Debut

Rebel Wilson, the Pitch Perfect star, couldn't resist making a quick joke about and as she was being interviewed by Alison Hammond about her new hosting gig on Thursday.

When asked how she felt about hosting the BAFTA's, Rebel explained that she had presented awards at the BAFTA's before and it had gone pretty well.

A clip from the upcoming movie West Side Story, which is nominated at the BAFTA's this year, was then played.

During the clip, the cast danced to the track America, prompting Alison to sing along, “I like to be in America, okay by me in America.”

Rebel then quipped, “Meghan and Harry's new theme song.”

The actress' comments caused Alison to burst out laughing.

Declines to Attend BAFTA Awards Despite Being President

Meanwhile, , who is the president of BAFTA, is believed to have declined to attend this weekend's BAFTA Awards.

The star-studded event is set to take place at the Royal Albert Hall in London on Sunday, March 13.

As a result of William not attending, the prince will record a message in advance to the awards attendees, which will be shown on the night.

William not attending the event is said to be a big blow for its organizers, who have expressed their disappointment.

As to why the father of three won't be there, it's reportedly down to his busy schedule.

Once Snubbed the BAFTAs

Besides, Meghan Markle once snubbed the BAFTAs because her gut told her not to go, and she has never been since.

She was invited to the prestigious awards, held at the Royal Albert Hall in London, at the height of her fame playing Rachel Zane in the American legal TV drama series, Suits.

However, when Meghan was asked to go to one of the events in 2015, she turned down the opportunity, despite the charity's seal of approval from the royals.

The now Markle has not attended the awards since, despite Prince William and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge going each year.

Meghan Markle Predicted to Ban from Meeting the Royals in 2022

Besides, Meghan Markle is predicted to ban Prince Harry from meeting the royals in 2022, according to English journalist Paul Routledge.

The year 2022 will bring 's 70th anniversary where the 95-year-old is scheduled to join by her family.

However, Paul predicts that Meghan will not let Harry join his clan for the celebration.

In June, the country comes to a standstill to celebrate our 96-year-old Queen's 70 years on the throne.
