William and Kate Outshine Harry and Meghan in Charitable Donations

and cannot compete with and 's charitable donations, according to royal expert Daniela Elza.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have managed to raise and donate a vast sum of money, as revealed in the Royal Foundation of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge 2020 Trustees' Report.

In 2020, they raised $22.1 million, an increase of 77% on the previous year, and donated most of that money.

While it is commendable that William and Kate use their positions to help others, this starkly highlights the different situation that Harry and Meghan find themselves in, after stepping down as senior royals.

Financial independence has come as a shock for the couple, who have lost the luxury of devoting days to projects they care about.

Ms. Elza writes that despite their best intentions, the reality of paying bills and balancing charity efforts means that big, sweeping projects are not currently possible.

Unlike the Cambridges, Harry and Meghan have chosen to work for a living, which comes at the cost of time.

Ms. Elza writes that the Sussexes may have underestimated the reality of becoming financially independent.

Since launching Archewell in October 2020, the couple has not held a single fundraiser.

However, things may look different in a year or two when the pandemic is over, and the world reopens, allowing them to focus on their philanthropic efforts.

Ms. Elza continues that Harry and Meghan will be able to raise funds by cosying up to their A-list friends, but for now, the Cambridges and the Sussexes operate on different playing fields.

The Cambridges' charity is well-established, well-funded, and helmed by two people who can dedicate their days to it.

During his chat with , Harry claimed that he and Meghan had been financially cut off by the Royals.

The couple has since signed production deals with Netflix and Spotify to support themselves and fund their charity work.

However, a former Royal correspondent, Neil Sean, claimed that they would have to produce six shows for Spotify by the end of the year.

In conclusion, while the Cambridges' charitable donations are impressive, it is not a competition.

Harry and Meghan have made the decision to become financially independent and work for a living.

They may not be able to devote as much time to charity as the Cambridges, but they are still making a difference in their own way.

With time, they may be able to raise more funds and focus on bigger projects.

For now, they are doing the best they can while balancing their personal and professional lives.
