The poignant tribute to Harry's late mother, who also owned a similar-looking diamond tennis bracelet to the one spotted on Meghan's arm on Tuesday, followed Diana's wishes for her jewellery to be passed on to her son's wives.

It is unclear whether gave the ring to Miss Markle as a gift, or if it was both something borrowed and something blue for her wedding day.

According to The Sun, Diana wrote before her tragic death, ”I would like you to allocate all my jewellery to the share to be held by my sons, so that their wives may, in due course, have it or use it.

The Princess of Wales first wore the stunning ring in 1996 during a trip to Australia.

Miss Markle's engagement ring includes one stone from Botswana, where the couple holidayed, and was personally designed by Prince Harry himself.

Meghan has been typically seen in more understated jewellery, making the tennis bracelet a standout piece.
