Princess Leonore Steals the Show at Sister’s Christening

Sweden’s Princess Madeline and her family were dressed to impress for her second daughter’s christening ceremony.

However, footage from inside the church revealed that even royalty can’t control the whims of a four-year-old.

The video captured Princess Leonore, Madeline’s oldest child, rolling barefoot in the church aisle, apparently growing restless during the Mass.

The adorable blonde princess was seen lolling flat on her back with her legs in the air as the ceremony continued.

Her father, financier Christopher O’Neill, appeared frozen in indecision in the clip as his daughter playfully rolled around directly in front of the altar.

Meanwhile, her mother, occupied with holding baby Adrienne, had to settle for throwing a sharp look in their direction.

The comical footage was shared on Instagram by a royal fan and has been viewed more than 80,000 times.

The congregation appeared to be concentrating hard on ignoring the princess’ antics, as the bishop continued to intone from the altar steps.

The camera then cut to Princess Madeline, shifting in her seat and apparently casting a meaningful look at her husband.

Princess Adrienne is the third child for Madeline and O’Neill, who are also parents to four-year-old Leonore and two-year-old Nicholas.

The wider Swedish royal family descended on Drottningholm Palace Chapel, outside Stockholm, on Friday for the lavish christening ceremony.

Princess Leonore had previously drawn attention outside the chapel by foregoing shoes as she strode across the gravel in the sunshine accompanied by her glamorous parents.

It’s not the first time the playful little girl has stolen the limelight.

In the summer of 2016, she visited stables in Gotland with her parents and was snapped giggling as she scampered out of their grasp, prompting Princess Madeline to give chase and scoop up her rascal daughter.

Madeline, 35, was among the first arrivals for the christening on Friday, while her older sister Crown Princess Victoria was spotted making her way to the opulent Drottningholm Palace Chapel in a private car.

The proud mother-of-three wore a £1,735 Giambattista valley floral dress for the spectacular ceremony, teamed with a traditional flower crown.

The wider Swedish royal family was also in attendance, including King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia, Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel, and Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sophia along with their respective children.

The ceremony was presided over by Archbishop Antje Kellen.

Despite the regal setting and the solemnity of the occasion, Princess Leonore’s antics brought a touch of humor to the proceedings.

The footage of her rolling around barefoot in the church aisle reminds us that even princesses are just like any other four-year-old, prone to restlessness and playfulness.

The video has gone viral, with many viewers commenting on how cute and relatable the little princess is.
