Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, expresses concern and prayers for elderly woman hit by police motorbike

An elderly woman is currently in critical condition at a local hospital after being hit by a police motorbike escorting Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, in West London.

The incident occurred on Wednesday at the junction of Cromwell Road and Warwick Road, prompting the prompt dispatch of emergency services, including paramedics from the London Ambulance Service and London Air Ambulance.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed the incident and has since notified the woman's family.

According to a statement from Buckingham Palace, Duchess Sophie's thoughts and prayers are with the injured lady and her family during this challenging time.

The statement also expressed her gratitude for the swift response of the emergency services.

Visual evidence captured at the scene depicts a police motorbike from the special escort group situated within a cordoned off area.
