A recent poll conducted by Express.co.uk has revealed that a vast majority of readers believe Prince Harry and Meghan Markle should stop using their royal status.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex chose to step back from their roles as senior working royals two years ago and have since relocated to the US to raise their children and pursue other projects.

Royal biographer Tom Bower, who recently published his book Revenge, Meghan, Harry and the War Between the Windsors, claimed that Meghan needs to realign her image and stop trying to play the royal card.

He also mentioned that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were burning out their royal status pretty fast now and would eventually have to give that up due to overuse.

Mr Bower referred to an event where Meghan sought to campaign for paid family leave and called on Republican senators to aid her cause.

During the call, she introduced herself as Meghan the Duchess of Sussex, which Mr Bower believes is playing the royal card too much and may not play well during an election for Congress or even the Senate.

Express.co.uk ran a poll asking readers whether Harry and Meghan should stop using their royal status.

A whopping 97% of the 18,422 readers who responded answered yes, Harry and Meghan should stop using their royal status.

A further 3% said no, while just 51 people said they did not know.

Dozens of comments were left below the article as readers shared their thoughts on Harry and Meghan's status.

The resounding response in the comments was that readers thought Harry and Meghan should renounce their titles and status.

Some readers thought that everything from the royal family should be completely cut off to Harry and Meghan Markle, while others believed that they should not pretend to be something they left of their own accord.

Earlier, it was reported that Prince Harry was deeply shocked after learning that he and his wife Meghan Markle were effectively being airbrushed from the royal family by Queen Elizabeth.

The claim was made by royal author Tom Bower in his new book titled Revenge, Meghan, Harry, and the War Between the Windsors.

In the book, Tom Bower claims that Prince Harry was stunned after the couple's photograph was absent during Queen Elizabeth's 2019 Christmas speech.

The Queen focused on Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton during her 2019 Christmas Day broadcast, the author further claims.

He writes, “As Harry watched his grandmother from Vancouver, he was staggered.

Four silver-framed family photographs had been carefully placed behind her.

They showed the Queen's father George VI, Prince Philip, Charles, and Camilla, and finally William and his family.”

The Windsors, Bower claimed, were airbrushing the Sussexes from history.
