Meghan Markle Reveals Son Archie Narrowly Escaped Fire in His Bedroom
Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, revealed in the first episode of her new Spotify podcast that her son Archie narrowly escaped a fire in his bedroom.
During her conversation with tennis star Serena Williams, Meghan disclosed that the incident happened during their tour of South Africa in 2019.
Archie was supposed to be sleeping in his bedroom at the time of the incident, but his then-nanny had taken him with her downstairs to get a snack.
In that short amount of time, a heater in Archie's nursery caught fire.
Meghan explained the reason behind the incident and drew criticism for sharing the story on her podcast.
A royal commentator observed that Meghan evaded the question when Williams asked her why she didn't take Archie with her.

Buckingham Palace Aides Fear Meghan's New Podcast Series
Meghan Markle's new podcast series on Spotify has sparked fear in Buckingham Palace as aides are worried about what else might be shared over the next 12 weeks, according to a leading royal family expert.
On Tuesday, the streaming giant released teaser clips of Archetypes, a new series in which Meghan speaks to celebrity guests and attempts to get to the bottom of the labels that try to hold women back.
The podcast series is a co-production between Archewell Audio, Gimlet, and Spotify.
It is the first product of the audio branch of the couple's Archewell brand other than the holiday special from December 2020 that featured Prince Harry and their young son Archie.
In a video clip posted by Spotify on its Twitter page, Meghan said that people should expect the real her in this podcast series.
Royal family expert Omid Scobie has warned that aides from within Buckingham Palace are now worried about what Meghan might share over the next three months of the podcast series.
Discussing the podcast series, the Yahoo News Royal Executive Editor wrote in his latest article that Buckingham Palace aides were most definitely not keeping calm, nor carrying on after the show's premiere on Tuesday, worried about what else might be shared over the next 12 weeks.
Meghan and Harry's Shocking Interview with Oprah Winfrey
In March 2021, a year after Meghan and Harry quit as senior working members of the royal family, the couple shocked royal family fans around the world during an interview with Oprah Winfrey.
They alleged there had been several conversations within the royal family about the skin tone of their soon-to-be-born baby Archie.
Prince William later stressed that they are very much not a racist family.
During the interview with Oprah, the couple also alleged that the royal family ignored Meghan's cries for mental health support and had left her feeling suicidal.
Buckingham Palace issued a rare public statement, which said the claims were concerning and would be addressed by the family privately.
The Archetypes Podcast Series
The first episode of the podcast series sees Meghan joined by close friend and tennis legend Serena Williams to speak about ambition, how both women juggle motherhood, and her evolution.
Professor Laura Kray from the University of California, Berkeley, will also join the conversation, expanding on ambition as it relates to gender.
The Archetypes podcast series with Spotify was announced in March and will see the Duchess of Sussex investigate the labels that try to hold women back.
She will speak to historians and experts to uncover the origin of these stereotypes and have uncensored conversations with women who know all too well how these typecasts shape our narratives.
In a teaser when the series was announced, Meghan said that this is how we talk about women, the words that raise our girls, and how the media reflects women back to us.
But where do these stereotypes come from?
And how do they keep showing up and defining our lives?
This is Archetypes, the podcast where we dissect, explore, and subvert the labels that try to hold women back.
I'll have conversations with women who know all too well how these typecasts shape our narratives.
And I'll talk to historians to understand how we even got here in the first place.
In conclusion, Meghan Markle's new podcast series has already stirred controversy with her revelation that her son Archie narrowly escaped a fire in his bedroom.
Buckingham Palace aides are also reportedly worried about what else Meghan might share over the next 12 weeks.
Nonetheless, the Archetypes podcast series promises to be an insightful exploration of the labels that try to hold women back, and Meghan's conversations with experts and women who have experienced these stereotypes firsthand will shed light on how they shape our narratives.
