Meghan Markle’s Long-Standing Tensions with the Royal Family Revealed in New Book

A new book titled The Hidden Power Behind the Crown by Valentin Lowe reveals that tensions between and the royal family started long before her marriage to in 2018.

According to courtiers, the Suits actress often used Henry's affections to her advantage, giving him ultimatums and threatening to leave him if he didn't handle something in the way that she preferred.

The book details Meghan's reported frustration over a Vanity Fair headline in October 2017, which read “She's just wild about Harry.”

Meghan pointed out that the phrase was a song that had been performed by Judy Garland and Mickey Rooney in Babes in Arms back in 1939 with the latter in Blackface.

She believed that the headline had been purposely chosen as a personal dig at her.

Meghan was very unhappy with how the situation had been handled, and she was looking to throw blame in every possible direction despite it having been a positive piece.

She was upset that the story was focused heavily around Harry and not about her.

Harry and Meghan tried to get it changed online because they thought it had been racially motivated.

Meghan was so angry that she wanted to have their public relations executive, Kayleigh Thomas, fired over the situation.

Royal fans weighed in on the news with one commenting that Meghan wasn't upset that it was racist, but that it was more about Harry.

Another added that she wants to be connected to Diana in every way possible.

Mr. Lowe also details how the warnings were there as the Sussexes' relationship with Palace staff deteriorated.

Sussex's private secretary, Sam Cohen, reportedly told the Palace that it needed evidence of the duty of care the institution had shown them amid strained relationships.

Cohen allegedly told two key courtiers, the private secretary's to both and the Queen, that if it all went wrong with Harry and Meghan, the Palace would need to show effective steps have been taken to maintain harmony.

The duty of care was crucial, and Sam was a broken record with them on that, said a source.

By the time Meghan gave her interview to , however, the Palace had reportedly lost the argument over duty of care.

Lowe says that the Duchess discussed mental health, which meant everything the Palace had done to support the couple, including giving them a team who'd have done anything to help them succeed, was simply forgotten.

Instead, the Duchess was able to point out all the times that the organization had failed her.

In the Oprah interview, Meghan also made the starting claim that she went to one of the most senior people saying she needed to go somewhere to get help, only to be told it wouldn't be good for the institution.

However, the truth remains that Meghan appears to have been in a bad place, and Harry knew she was suffering.
