Catherine, the new Princess of Wales, and other senior members of the royal family have taken part in a parade led by King Charles III, following the Queen’s Coffin from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Hall, where Her Majesty will lie in state.

This marks the last time the Queen's Coffin will be moved before her funeral on Monday at Westminster Hall.

After the ceremony, it will be taken to her final resting place, her beloved Windsor Castle.

During the 38-minute procession down to the Mall, the Princess of Wales looked sombre in an ebony coat dress and a traditional morning veil as she followed the procession in a car.

Looking through the car's window, Catherine was seen paying a touching tribute to the late monarch with a very delicate costume detail.

Catherine has chosen to wear one of the late monarch's brooches for the procession.

She wore an entirely black outfit and a black fascinator with a veil.

She completed the look with the Queen's diamond and pearl leaf brooch, which she had paired to her lapel.

The brooch is recognisable for its trio of pearls, which are placed at the corners of a pave-set leaf.

It features yellow gold and is thought to be a recent creation.

The brooch has only been seen a few times throughout the years, with the Queen wearing it for her 73rd birthday in April 1999 for a special concert in Seoul.

Catherine wore the magnificent brooch in 2017 on a visit to Belgium, where she and William visited the Commonwealth War Graves Commission's Tyne Cot Cemetery to commemorate the centennial of Passchendaele.

Adding poignancy to the moment were Catherine's choice of earrings.

Today's appearance of the brooch and earrings come on a sad day for Catherine and William, as they participate in proceedings following the death of Her Majesty the Queen.

The late monarch's coffin was returned to London yesterday evening after it had been resting in St Giles' Cathedral in Edinburgh.

It was brought back by the Royal Air Force to RAF Nordholt in London before it was moved to Buckingham Palace.

From here, a procession through London has seen the coffin taken to the Palace of Westminster where it will lie in state until Her Majesty's funeral on Monday, September 19.

Huge crowds flocked to see the procession, with many more expected to queue for hours to visit the coffin at rest in Westminster in the coming days.
