Duchess of Cambridge Delights Tennis Fans at Wimbledon
The Duchess of Cambridge made a surprise visit to the All England Club on Friday, much to the delight of tennis fans.
The 39-year-old Duchess, who is an avid tennis fan and patron of the All England Lawn Tennis Club, was seen catching a few games and even served up strawberry desserts during her visit.
As she made her way through the grounds, the Duchess stopped to talk to members of the public and even had a chat with 78-year-old Jill Mills, who was thrilled to see her.
“She was just so lovely, she’s an absolute credit to the Royal Family,” said Miss Mills.
“It was wonderful to meet her and it’s made my day.”
The Royal Mother of Three looked in excellent spirits as she joined British tennis ace Tim Henman to watch Jamie Murray and Brazil’s Bruno Suarez play against the US’s Nicolas Munro and Canada’s Vasek Pospicil in their men’s double first round match on court 14, which Marianne Suarez won in two sets.
In keeping with Covid-19 measures, the Duchess covered her face with a floral mask as she arrived at the All England Club.

But the face covering was not enough to keep her presence under wraps and excited tennis fans were quick to take out their phones to snap a photo of the VIP guest.
For today’s sunny London outing, Catherine built her outfit around the blue and white skirt, tucking a plain white round neck t-shirt into the fitted waistband.
She carried the mulberry small Amberley crossbody bag by its top handle and matched the piece to a classic pair of pointe toe white pumps.
The Duchess was escorted to court 14 by Sally Bolton, chief executive of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club.
Catherine followed Tim Henman to the back row of the court, taking her seat behind him and Miss Bolton, ahead of Murray’s match.
Once sitting down, the Duchess removed her mask and was seen smiling and laughing with her Wimbledon hosts.
During her visit today, the Duchess not only attended a match, enjoying the competition, but she also toured the Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Museum and spent time with executive chef Adam Fargin.
In the kitchens on the Wimbledon grounds, she and Fargin spoke about how over the past year the kitchen has been used to distribute hot meals to the community during the Covid-19 crisis.
Wearing a brown apron and a white and blue face mask, the Duchess chatted to Fargin and was pictured with a mountain of the world famous strawberries.
Catherine then put her own skills to work as she helped to prepare strawberry desserts along with other high tea items such as egg sandwiches which will be served in the championships.
Afterwards, the Royal paid a visit to the Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Museum where she was shown displays including a special exhibition on the centenary of Centre Court.
While there she discussed a portrait of Andy Murray by Maggie Hambling with the All England Club Head of Heritage Adam Chadwick and tried her hand with other interactive displays.
The museum is a tribute to the heritage of the game and the history of the championships and opened to ticket holders for free for the first time this year.
The Duchess’ visit was a welcome surprise for tennis fans and her involvement in the preparation of the Wimbledon menu and desserts shows her commitment to supporting the community during the pandemic.
All in all, it was a successful and enjoyable day for the Duchess of Cambridge at Wimbledon.
