Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor was born on May 6, 2019, at the private Portland Hospital in Westminster, as confirmed by his birth certificate.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex had previously kept the location of his birth and details of their medical staff a secret.

It had been reported that Meghan had hoped for a home birth, but was overdue, and her plans were disrupted.

The birth certificate listed Meghan's name as Rachel Meghan, Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Sussex, with her occupation listed as Princess of the United Kingdom.

The Duke of Sussex registered 's birth on Friday, dismissing speculation that Meghan had a home birth at Frogmore Cottage.

Archie is seventh in line to the throne and the eighth great-grandchild of the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh.

He weighed 7lbs 3oz at birth and is believed to be the first mixed-race child born to a senior member of the royal family in centuries.

Joel Little, the managing editor of Majesty magazine, believes that Harry and Meghan rejecting the title of an earl for Archie could have been part of their wider master plan to step back as royals.
