Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s UK return announcement has drawn criticism from a royal family expert who warned that senior members of the royal family were likely not thrilled as it was made on Princess Anne’s birthday.

The couple announced that they would be visiting Britain again next month, where they will play key roles in charitable events.

Despite the noble reasons for their return, leading expert Kinsey Schofield claimed that senior members of the royal family were likely not thrilled by the announcement.

The couple's decision to make the trip to Britain has been made worse as they also made the major announcement on Princess Anne's 72nd birthday.

is looking to slim down the monarchy, not add a competing royal family, according to Schofield.

Senior royals are likely not thrilled with Monday's announcement, especially since they chose to do it on the Princess Royal's birthday.

and will head to Manchester for the One Young World Summit on September 5, where Meghan, who is a counsellor for the organisation, will give the keynote address at the opening ceremony.

The following day, they will travel to Germany for the Invictus Games Düsseldorf 2023 One Year to Go event, before returning to the UK for the WellChild Awards in London on September 8, where Harry will deliver a speech.

It will be Harry and Meghan's first visit to the UK together since attending the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations in early June.

When Harry and Meghan last visited the UK in June for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations, they kept a relatively low profile and avoided the spotlight.

They were not present on the Buckingham Palace balcony for the Trooping the Colourfly over as this had been slimmed down to working royals, but did attend a service of thanksgiving for the Queen at St Paul's Cathedral the following day.

The couple's return to the UK in two weeks coincides with the new Prime Minister being announced, which will see the Queen immediately ask the successor to Boris Johnson to form a new government.

The 96-year-old monarch will likely travel back to London from her annual summer break at Balmoral to carry out her head of state duties.

She is expected to be visited by Harry and Meghan, although the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are unlikely to meet William and Kate, fuelling further speculation of strained relations between the two couples.

During their visit, they are expected to visit Manchester and London, but despite spending some time in the capital, the royal expert isn't convinced they will spend much time with their relatives.

The podcast host said, “I think the only member of the royal family that might attempt to see the Sussexes is the Queen.

However, this does feel like a carbon copy of a royal engagement, and I don't believe that she would encourage that.”

In a new promotion recently released, which lasts 1 minute and 33 seconds, there is a reference to Meghan's Duchess title, despite the former actress and her husband stepping back from royal life.

Despite the criticism, Prince Harry and are determined to continue their philanthropic work and charitable efforts, regardless of what others may think of their actions.
