Duchess of Cambridge Upset to Miss Prince William’s Middle East Tour

The Duchess of Cambridge, , is reportedly very upset that she cannot join her husband, , on his five-day tour of the Middle East.

This is particularly difficult for her as she lived in Jordan as a child and loved the time she spent there.

Kate's family moved to Jordan in May 1984 when she was just two years old, and her father, Michael Middleton, was working as a British Airways manager in the Jordanian capital of Amman.

During their time in Jordan, the future Duchess attended an English-language nursery, and the family stayed for nearly three years before returning to Berkshire in 1986.

During the first day of his tour, was introduced to Rania Malki, chief executive of Save the Children in Jordan, who knew the exact house where the Middleton family used to live.

The house is now the home of Malki's children's paediatrician.

When Malki informed Prince William of this, he responded with excitement, saying, “‘No way,' she will be thrilled, she loved it here, she really did.

She is very upset that I'm coming here without her.'”

At a reception at the British Ambassador to Jordan's residence in Amman, Prince William spoke about his wife's absence, saying, “‘My wife Catherine is very sorry she cannot be here with me so soon after the birth of her son Louis, but her family remembers very fondly the almost three years she spent here as a child when her father worked for British Airways in Amman.”

Prince William also highlighted the strong ties between Jordan and the United Kingdom, stating, “Catherine's experience is not unique, the interchange between our two countries is real and deep, work, study, tourism and family links, our historic ties and friendship are played out in the lives of thousands of people who consider both countries home.”
