David Beckham Pays Respects to Queen Elizabeth II at Emotional Funeral

David Beckham, former soccer star and cultural icon, paid his respects to the late Queen Elizabeth II during her emotional funeral on Monday.

In a heartfelt Instagram post, Beckham praised the loving royal family and mourned the loss of a unique, inspirational, and caring leader.

“Our Queen is home.

Today we said a final farewell to Her Majesty the Queen,” he wrote.

“People from all walks of life came together in their thousands to show gratitude for our beloved Queen.

Alongside the incredible ceremony and tradition we have watched a loving family grieve for a mother, grandmother, and great grandmother with dignity and dedication.”

Beckham, who had previously expressed his devastation over the Queen's passing, waited in line for over 12 hours to pay his respects to the monarch as she lay in Westminster Hall.

Despite being recognized by fans and onlookers, he declined to take pictures until after he had paid his respects.

“I was so lucky I was able to have a few moments in my life to be around Her Majesty,” Beckham told ITV News.

“A sad day but it's a day to remember the incredible legacy she left.”

Many people praised Beckham on social media for choosing to wait in line rather than using his celebrity status to cut ahead.

“Without being all wah, it's actually hard to be a celebrity, for David Beckham to come alone, and queue for 10 hours, when everyone would recognize him, is pretty ballsy.

Golden ballsy,” one person tweeted.

Another added, “I love that he did this, and didn't choose the sleb fast track.”

Beckham, who had met the Queen numerous times and was appointed Beckham OBE for his services to British soccer in 2003, wiped away tears as he bowed his head before the Queen's casket.

He tried to lift the spirits of those around him by buying doughnuts for people.

In other news, Prince William is reportedly still furious over the way he and Kate Middleton were treated and is awaiting an apology from Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.

According to The Hollywood Gossip, quoting The Telegraph, William and Kate are unable to move on until Harry and Meghan at least acknowledge the hurt they have caused.

“The report further says, they feel that Oprah crossed a line and that someone should acknowledge the motives behind it and the pain it caused,” the article reads.

Although the past week represented a chance for reconciliation among the fab four, a lasting peace remains elusive.
