Kate Middleton’s Future as the Unofficial Queen of England

, the Duchess of Cambridge, is set to become the unofficial Queen of England one day when her husband, , ascends to the throne.

As the wife of the future king, she will gain the official title of Queen Consort and will enjoy a very special day of her own because of that.

Just like William, Kate will have a coronation ceremony of her own, but it won't be as lavish as the future king's.

Details of the coronation have been revealed on the official royal website, stating that Kate will be crowned with William.

The website reads, “Unless decided otherwise, a Queen Consort is crowned with a king.”

In a similar but simpler ceremony, when a man is officially consort, they may be referred to as prince.

Such is the case with the Queen's husband, Prince Philip.

When becomes king, both Kate and William will find themselves with new, very important titles.

Kate will reportedly be given the title of the Princess of Wales, a title synonymous with her late mother-in-law, .

Just like his father now, William will inherit the title of Prince of Wales when he becomes heir to the throne.

It is unlikely that Kate will be crowned Queen Consort anytime soon, with , Duchess of Cornwall, first in line for the title.

It was previously stated that , despite being the wife of the Prince of Wales and soon to be Queen Consort, would take the title of Princess Consort when Charles became king.

However, in 2018 Clarence House removed the statement regarding Camilla being styled as Princess Consort instead of Queen Consort.

One title Camilla hasn't taken is the Princess of Wales.

Out of respect for the late , it is unlikely that anyone else will be given this title until William becomes king.

Another royal whose title may change when becomes king is .

Given that there are three people before her in the order of succession, it is unlikely that will ever be queen.

However, she may gain the title of Princess Royal when her father ascends to the throne.

Princess Anne, the Queen's sister, gained the title of Princess Royal in 1987.

Only one person can hold this title at once, the Queen's aunt, Princess Mary, previously held the title before she passed away in 1965.
