Lady Louise Windsor and Princess Charlotte bond during annual Balmoral trip

The annual summer holiday for the Royals is a chance for them to spend quality time together away from the public eye, catching up while taking a break from Royal duties and school.

This year's trip is taking place without the late Prince Philip for the first time, but it still provides family members who might not ordinarily spend time together a chance to bond.

Reportedly, Lady Louise Windsor, the 17-year-old daughter of Prince Edward and Sophie Wessex, and have bonded during this year's trip.

Lady Louise, who is thought to be the Queen's favourite grandchild, loves spending time at the Royal Family's Scottish Retreat.

She even tried to teach Charlotte, who is 11 years younger than her, a new skill during a previous visit.

According to an insider who spoke to The Sun in 2019, the Queen loves that Louise and her younger brother James relish their time at Balmoral.

She has become particularly close to Louise, who seems to have become her favourite grandchild, closely followed by James.

Louise also endeared herself to everyone by looking after William and Kate's children when they were there.

Louise loves drawing and sketching and was very patiently trying to teach Charlotte how to draw pictures of rabbits and deer.

This week has been a big week for Louise as she would have received her AS level results on Tuesday, like countless other teenagers up and down the country.

She attends a private school in Ascot and has been studying for her AS levels in the subjects of English, History, Politics and Drama.

However, it is unlikely that Buckingham Palace will release her grades, and last year her GCSE results also remained private.

When she returns to school in September, Louise will continue her studies to complete fuller levels, although most students tend to drop one subject after the first year.

Sophie, Louise's proud mum, has previously talked about her daughter's schooling and hopes that she will go to university.

She said, “I wouldn't force her, but if she wants to, she's quite clever.”
