Prince Harry’s Cousin Louis Spencer to Inherit Princess Diana’s Childhood Home

Louis Spencer, the 27-year-old cousin of , is set to inherit the 13,500-acre Althorpe estate in Northamptonshire, which was the childhood home of the late .

Despite having three older sisters, Louis is the heir apparent to the Spencer Earldom, thanks to the tradition of male primogeniture.

As the eldest son, Louis is set to inherit the Grade 1 listed stately home Althorpe House and the Earldom, and it is believed that he has already started preparing to take over by attending a number of trustees meetings.

Louis, who has been described as the spitting image of his red-haired cousin, has been dubbed “ Light” by some.

The controversial tradition of male primogeniture means that Louis will inherit the aristocratic estate simply because he is male.

However, Louis' eldest sister Lady Kitty Spencer, 30, discussed the topic, saying that primogeniture can be a tricky subject, as attitudes are changing with the times.

She added that they have grown up understanding that it is Louis who will inherit and that he will do an incredible job.

grew up at Sandringham and Althorpe House, and the estate was her home before she married in 1981.

Following her tragic death in 1997, she was buried on a small island on the estate in the middle of the ornamental Round Oval Lake.

Louis was born in 1994 and grew up in Cape Town with his sisters.

He is the youngest of Earl Spencer's four children with first wife Victoria, with his parents divorcing in 1997.

He later moved to the UK and studied at the University of Edinburgh.

According to the Telegraph, Louis' friends have described him as a quiet man and a talented actor.

One friend said that he is super private and gets on quietly with his thing.

He's a very talented actor and, I think, will be a brilliant one.

He's very low-key and genuine, decent and kind, and tall.

Jonathan Shallott, chairman of the Inter Talent Agency, also said of the budding actor, “In terms of judging his potential, there's what he looks like and his family name.

The Americans will love him, in particular.

He'll get some good roles from his name alone, and he's good-looking.”

Louis' father, Princess Diana's brother, the current Earl Spencer, said in 2015 that he was happy with the tradition of male primogeniture.

He added that he would be totally relaxed about Kitty inheriting it, but if he chose Kitty, it would be against all the tradition that goes with Althorpe.
