Meghan Markle’s Childhood Love Reveals Her Strained Relationship with Father

's relationship with her estranged father, Thomas Markle, has been a topic of discussion for quite some time now.

However, her childhood boyfriend and actor Joshua Silverstein recently shed some light on the matter in a candid interview with US Weekly.

Silverstein revealed that he knew Meghan's dad growing up, but didn't see him often.

He also acknowledged that Meghan's relationship with her father was complicated, which he understood as most teenager to parent relationships are.

However, he had a closer connection to Markle's mother, Doria Ragland.

Meghan's parents got divorced in 1987, and Silverstein was there when it happened.

He acknowledged that it's hard raising kids without the secondary parent, referring to it as all challenging.

While Silverstein admitted that he couldn't speak specifically about what Meghan went through with Thomas, he did recall having very cordial interactions with the General Hospital star.

According to Silverstein, Meghan and Thomas' relationship as father and daughter may have strained as a result of the divorce, with Joshua being saddened to watch them grow more distant.

On a concluding note, Silverstein stated that creating boundaries around people we may not want to is sometimes necessary, especially if it's what's best for you and your family.

Recently, Samantha Markle, Meghan's paternal half-sister, sent her a Christmas card urging her to end the rift with their dad.

The Sunday Mirror reported that Samantha wrote to the royal, saying it was time she reunited with Thomas.

The 74-year-old was caught up in controversy days before the wedding of Harry and Meghan after he allegedly staged paparazzi photographs of himself.

In a picture of the card published by the Sunday Mirror, Samantha Markle wrote, “Holidays are a time for family and are sentimental.

Dad has been trying to contact you and is very hurt because you are avoiding him.

Life is short, and you know dad is wonderful.

Please give him joy in his last years by showing you love him.

The time is now.”

During an interview with Good Morning Britain earlier this week, Mr. Markle made a public appeal to his daughter to get in touch.

He said, “I'm hopeful that soon something will be resolved, and we'll be talking.

This can't continue forever.

People are saying I should be quiet about this and not speak.

If I don't speak, they will speak to me.

That hasn't happened.

I don't plan to be silent for the rest of my life.

I love my daughter very much, and she has to know that.

I would really appreciate if she would just call me, reach out to me somehow, send me a text, just say you're there and you're hearing me.”

In conclusion, it's evident that Meghan's relationship with her father has been strained for quite some time now.

However, the decision to create boundaries around people who may not be good for us is sometimes necessary, especially if it's what's best for us and our families.

As for the ongoing rift between Meghan and her father, only time will tell if they can reconcile and mend their relationship.
