Prince William Inherits Diana’s Prized Gift on 39th Birthday Amidst Cold Shoulder from Harry and Meghan

, the Duke of Cambridge, turned 39 today, marking the same age as his wife Kate and sister-in-law .

He inherited a vast sum of money from on his last big birthday, but this was actually later than she had originally intended him to receive it.

The late Princess of Wales had instructed that William and Harry would be entitled to inherit at the age of 25, but a variation order in the High Court months after her death changed the details of her will.

A clause was included that raised the age at which they could ask for the capital in full to 30 years old.

It is believed that both princes received around 10 million pounds when they turned 30.

Diana had around 20 million pounds when she died, leaving 12,966,022 pounds after inheritance tax of 8,502,330 pounds, to share between her two sons.

The estate consisted of stocks and shares, jewellery, dresses, other personal belongings, and cash from her 17 million pounds divorce settlement.

With shrewd investment, the estate could have been worth around 20 million pounds by the time William was eligible to inherit, meaning he would take half of that, which is 10 million pounds, and the other half would be left for Harry.

When William turned 30 in 2012, he did not have a large celebration.

St James Palace said at the time that he'll be spending it in a low-key private fashion.

It has not been confirmed how William will mark his birthday this year, but it is likely he will spend it with Kate and his three children, Prince George, , and .

Amidst the coronavirus lockdown and having to change how the firm is run to react to the pandemic, the Cambridges have also had to deal with the loss of Prince Philip and the ongoing fallout from and 's royal exit.

Ms Nicholl said, “Kate always makes birthdays and celebrations special for William and the children.

She's very much like her mother Carol in that respect.

She'll be aware that this has been a tough year for William and will want his birthday to be special for him.

Kate keeps William grounded and she likes to show how important he is to her and children.

Especially after everything they've been through this year.

It's only brought them closer.”
