Duke and Duchess of Sussex Welcome Baby Girl, Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor
On Friday, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex welcomed their second child—a girl named Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor.
The baby was born at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital and weighed 7 pounds 11 ounces.
The Royal Family expressed their delight at the news, and Prince William and Kate congratulated the couple.
While the birth of the royal baby has been celebrated by many, the announcement of Meghan's pregnancy was met with controversy earlier this year.
In February, the couple shared a black and white photograph of a pregnant Meghan lying on her back with her head on Harry's lap.
Some critics mocked the announcement, including a front page on the Daily Star with the headline, “Publicity-Shy Woman Tells 6.67bn People, ‘I'm Pregnant.'”

One royal commentator, Jane Moore, argued that the photograph contradicted the couple's desire for privacy.
She pointed out that Meghan and Harry had left the relative privacy of Frogmore Cottage in the UK to move to California, which is known as the “paparazzi central of the world.”
Moore also noted that Meghan had allowed a friend to speak to the authors of the biography Finding Freedom, despite claiming to want to keep details of her private life out of the public arena.
Moore contrasted the Sussexes' approach to that of other famous people who manage to keep their personal lives private.
For example, Joaquin Phoenix never announced that he was having a baby with his partner Rooney Mara, while Cameron Diaz announced her pregnancy but gave no further details.
Moore argued that Meghan and Harry had chosen to make their announcement in a way that would generate maximum publicity.
However, some of the other hosts on Loose Women argued that if Meghan had not announced her pregnancy, she would have been photographed with a bump and the news would have leaked anyway.
Moore countered that Meghan was heavily pregnant in the photograph and asked whether anyone had known she was pregnant before the announcement.
Despite the controversy surrounding the announcement, the birth of Lilibet has been widely celebrated.
She is the Queen's 11th great-grandchild and the first to be born overseas.
Lilibet joins big brother Archie Harrison, who is now two years old.
