Kate, the Princess of Wales, has been caught on camera hugging a member of the public, despite Meghan Markle’s claims that her tendency to hug others was jarring for the Royal Family.

Meghan revealed in the Sussexes' Netflix documentary series that her first encounter with and Kate turned awkward because of her hugging tendencies.

However, an unearthed video from 2018 shows Kate hugging her former midwife Professor Jacqueline Dunkley-Bent, which has raised doubts over Meghan's remark.

The heartwarming clip shows Kate, who was seven months pregnant with at the time, spotting Professor Dunkley-Bent during a visit to the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.

A beaming Kate can be seen running over to the healthcare worker before she gives her an enormous hug.

The midwife helped to deliver when she was born at St Mary's Hospital in 2015.

Royal fan account Celtic Tribesmen tweeted about the video, saying, “Every time I see this video of Catherine, Princess of Wales hugging her midwife I get so teary-eyed.

Trending:

It's such a wonderful display of affection and acknowledgement.”

Kate regularly gets up close and personal with Royal well-wishers, such as on her recent trip to the US with William.

Despite Meghan's claims, the Princess of Wales has persisted with her informal approach, even if it breaks with Royal tradition.

During her interview on Netflix, Meghan said that she was dressed in ripped jeans and was barefoot when she first met Harry's brother and sister-in-law.

She said, “Even when Will and Kate came over, and I met her for the first time, they came over for dinner, I remember I was in ripped jeans and I was barefoot.

Like I was a hugger, I've always been a hugger.

I didn't realize that that is really jarring for a lot of Brits.
