Meghan Markle’s Baptism Bracelet: A Symbolic Accessory Worn on International Women’s Day

has captured the hearts of many with her stylish fashion choices, and her recent visit to Birmingham with was no exception.

While most of the clothing items she wore for International Women's Day are sold out, there was one accessory that caught everyone's attention – a stunning new diamond cross bracelet.

The bracelet is believed to be a symbol of Meghan's recent confirmation into the Church of England, which took place in a secret ceremony on Tuesday evening.

Meghan, who was brought up as an Episcopalian, was baptised into the Church of England with her fiancé by her side.

The Daily Mail reports that the 45-minute service was conducted by the Archbishop of Canterbury in the Royal Chapel at St. James's Palace in London, and was attended by and , the Duchess of Cornwall.

The baptism bracelet is a popular gift or keepsake to remember the special day, often featuring a cross or biblical reference, or if for a baby, their name.

Meghan's stunning piece of jewellery is no doubt a baptism bracelet, placed on her left arm and stacked on top of another diamond band.

The horizontal bar bracelet is from her favourite brand Birks Rossi du Matin collection and retails for $925.

The significance of Meghan's baptism and cross bracelet cannot be overstated.

It is a nod to Harry's grandmother's role as the head of the Church of England, and it also means that Meghan is now able to join her husband-to-be at Holy Communion.

The secret ceremony is the latest event leading up to Meghan and Harry's wedding at St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle on May 19.

In order to remain in the line of succession, members of the royal family cannot be Catholic.

The vast majority are members of the Church of England.

Until 2013, laws forbade members of the family from marrying someone who is Catholic.

Meghan's baptism and confirmation into the Church of England ensure that she can marry Harry and remain in the line of succession.

Meghan is not the first to be baptised before a royal wedding.
