Princess Charlotte attends Commonwealth Games to cheer on swimmers

, the daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, made a surprise appearance at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games on Tuesday afternoon.

The seven-year-old joined her parents at the Sandwell Aquatic Centre to watch some of the heats in the swimming competition, marking her first public outing without either of her brothers, or .

The Duchess of Cambridge arrived at the tournament in high spirits alongside her husband and daughter.

She donned a white Alexander McQueen trouser suit for the event, which she first wore during the Caribbean tour earlier this year.

Meanwhile, looked delighted to be attending the contest, gesturing wildly to her parents as they sat in the stands.

The Royals were cheering and applauding alongside the crowd for England's 1500 metre freestyle hopeful Luke Turley.

After rolling her eyes following a comment from her father, Charlotte then cracked a smile as Turley's heat came to a close.

Later the family were also spotted at the England and India hockey match, where Charlotte seemed a little bored and held her face in her hands.

They also paid a visit to the Team England Futures programme, a partnership between Sports Aid, of which the Duchess is patron, Sports England and Commonwealth Games.

They then met Team England support staff and Charlotte got to update Team England's all-important medals wall.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's only daughter is proving to be quite the sporting fan.

Days ago she joined her father for a video message in sending her best wishes to the Lionesses ahead of the Euro 2022 final.

For today's event, the little princess's mother was dazzling in the fresh white jacket with matching trousers from her favourite designer, Alexander McQueen.

This is the third time this year the mother of three has worn the suit, having first worn it during her Caribbean tour earlier this year, when she went on to visit a youth group with to mark Windrush Day.

The royal swept her long brunette locks back from her face in a bouncy blow-dry for the occasion.

Princess Charlotte has made numerous public appearances over the previous few months, the last of which was just today.

The young princess made appearances at a variety of celebrations this summer to honour the Queen's Jubilee.

While the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were in Cardiff in June, she and attended their first formal engagement together.

During a family outing, Charlotte was photographed making funny faces, waving to photographers and even sticking her tongue out.

Her outspoken demure has made her a fan favourite among the royal family's many followers.

The Queen continues to withdraw from royal obligations, therefore senior royals will stand in in her place at the Commonwealth Games.

Instead of his mother, attended the breathtaking opening ceremony where he met with shouts as he drove into the stadium in an Aston Martin.

Meanwhile, both Sophie and Edward have made several appearances so far in the competition.

The couple's children, Lady Louise, 18, and James, 14, accompanied them to the competition yesterday.

Overall, it seems that Princess Charlotte is following in the footsteps of her parents and showing a keen interest in sports.

Fans of the Royal Family will no doubt be delighted to see the young princess enjoying herself at such a prestigious event.
