Supernanny Maria Borallo: The Highly Trained Nanny of the Royal Family

Maria Borallo, a highly trained and sought-after nanny from Palencia in northern Spain, has been spending a lot of time with Kate and Prince Louis recently.

As the Duchess of Cambridge enjoys a longer maternity leave after feeling she went back to work too quickly with Prince George and Princess Charlotte, Miss Borallo has been playing a leading role in the upbringing of the royal children.

Miss Borallo trained at the prestigious Nordland College in Bath, which is known for its exceptional standards of training for more than 125 years.

As part of her training at the Elite Institute, graduates are warned that any who use physical punishment will be struck off because they are taught to believe a child is never naughty.

Writer Louise Herron, who co-wrote a book about Nordland nannies and spent a year at the college making a TV documentary, said, “They will never ever smack, they will be struck off if they do.

A child is never naughty but the behaviour is.”

Miss Borallo is one of the most sought-after nannies in the country, and it is expected that she would earn around £38,000 a year as a live-in help to Kate and William's growing brood.

She has been trained not to impose strict rules and is expected to have agreed on a regular routine of bath times and bed times for the children with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

Miss Borallo is also expected to play a leading role in the christening of Prince Louis on Monday, according to Royal Babies, a celebration through history by Annie Bolin and Jill Knappett.

During the ceremony, the Royal Family, godparents, and guests will stand near the font, waiting for the baby to be carried into the room by his nanny, accompanied by a lady-in-waiting.

William and Kate took on Miss Borallo in 2014 to replace 71-year-old Jessie Webb, William's former nanny who was brought out of retirement to help the couple after George was born last July.
